The Simpsons had a dark time, but their newer stuff hasn't been too bad. Nothing beats the early seasons though.

I agree that The Simpson have some pretty shitty moments and, kind of like SNL, they are living past their time and have lost their sparkle and started to suck a bit.
But...
I thought this episode was kind of cool because it had & , psychedelics and cannabis in it.

the simpsons could use some new writers. i think the problem is they've done all their stories a million times already.
The show's been going on somewhere around 500 episodes already

I've watched most of the newer episodes of The Simpsons and, if you ask me, a lot of them aren't anywhere near as bad as people say.
I feel like most people who say "the new episodes suck" haven't even bothered watching them.
On the other hand... I was not impressed by the movie at all.
...I mean... why the fuck did they have Arnold Schwarzenegger in it? They already have a paradoxical version of him in the Simpsons' universe.

It was a good episode.  . I've been watching Homer for over 20 years. . I doubt very many shroomerites watched this live on a TV, like I did . . "The Simpson family first appeared as shorts in The Tracey Ullman Show on April 19, 1987" .   . . .

it was decent, i used to be a die hard simpsons fan, never missing an episode, but i've definitely tapered off recently

The jokes are a little bit like an old time simpsons episode, but I really believe that most of the humor is lost in the animation quality for some reason. The badly drawn lines and funny frame mistakes were a great quality of the show.
