Unfair since it's a year and a couple months in, but the 2000s were so much better. 2010 was a pretty shitty year in music.

i think a lot of bands that started in the 2000's will hit their stride hardcore in the new decade. Animal collective for one. I mean they've been in stride for a while but I think it will only increase. I don't think we've even seen the full effect the internet is gonna have on music, or the world in general.

Umm, yeah really. In the realm of music I listen to and music publications I read a lot of albums that got top honors weren't even the best albums to come from the bands who made them.
2009 was pretty fucking killer too.

Why does that make you laugh? I'm not foolish enough to think my taste in music is that broad. There may have been tons of great stuff that came out that I just don't give a fuck about. It would be kinda dumb for me to base how a year went on music I haven't listened to.
As to your second point... that's not what I was getting at. I was merely saying things like, say, The Suburbs weren't as good as Funeral, or Warm Slime wasn't as good as Help!.

Im not so much thinking of 2010 vs. 2009, more like broad trends. Wait and see, crazy crazy shit is gonna happen in the music world. I mean, just look at the festival lineups we're starting to see already...omg i know this only makes sense to me, but if you catch my drift, 2012 is gonna have some prettty killer festivals during the summer, i'll tell you that much

so u think acts like: Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers, Tool, Steve Winwood and Willie Nelson are weak?
shows how musically constipated you are.

Well I'm not trying to act like a douche about what I listen to because I'm not. I get that your taste is quite superior to mine though.
But I'll play along.
When was the last time you fucking saw Bob Dylan? He sounds like fucking shit and plays the guitar for about three songs then hides behind a keyboard. The Dead? Yeah I'll fucking pass. They blew fucking dick at Rothbury. Willie Nelson still kills it live. I don't listen to the Allman Brothers so it doesn't matter to me.
But beyond any of that, great, you named a few popular headliners. Every fucking festival has popular headliners. Six bands (that constantly headline fests no less) does not a good fest make. Fucking get over yourself, I'm not trying to put anyone down for their taste, I'm just not too stoked about any fests yet (though plenty of fests haven't released their lineups yet).
So how musically constipated are you? You named headliners to obvious jam fests. The jam scene doesn't make up the festival scene Mr. I-Listen-To-Almost-All-Kinds-Of-Music. Again get over yourself, Jesus.
Edit: Not only that but since I obviously live in the US... Bob Dylan, as of now, isn't headlining any festivals in the States (or the Western Hemisphere), Tool doesn't have any 2011 dates announced, the ABB don't have any fests on their tour schedule yet, Furthur (The Grateful Dead ) haven't announced a summer tour yet, Willie Nelson is playing SXSW and no other fests as of yet, and the only dates Steve Winwood has planned are shows in London with Eric Clapton.
Good fucking try though, buddy.

angry little fella aren't ya?
i'm not trying start some stupid fight over the interwebz. i thought your statement about post 90's music being better was bold. and as stated before, the phrase:Quote:
jewunit said: In the realm of music I listen to...
just made me lol. idk why, it's just funny to me.
as for the acts i named i was trying to point out that the fest scene that you think is so "weak" includes what a lot of people would consider to be very solid bands that have stood the test of time.
BTW- The Dead have a Spring tour, they rarely have summer tours ABB headline Wanee every year...two night this year, check out Wanee.com
and i don't go really go to fests for the headliners as much as the small acts, to discover new music, and be around awesome people who enjoy the same tunes as me.
it's to bad your realm of music doesn't have anything like that huh?
