i will be surprised if the saints win in baltimore.
    #13631289 - 12/14/10 02:02 PM (2 years, 6 months ago)

even when looking at them as a franchise their record in cold weather games (30 or below) is something crazy low.
if there is snow on the field i would seriously take a bet giving the saints 14.

if the conditions are really bad, i would rather the saints not risk any injury and just let baltimore win.

That's real touching. I'm sure the Bucs and the Falcons concur.

the falcons pretty much have clinched the division. even when the saints beat them it would still take the saints to win outright and the falcons to lose to st louis or carolina.

GB and chicago both lost this week which pretty much gave the saints a game and a half lead for the wild card spot. so basically the saints would have to lose outright for the rest of the season with TB winning outright.

this philly/giants game is going to be really important for the saints controlling their own destiny into week 17. IOW, we need philly to win and secure the playoff spot (since they have vikes and cowgirls after that, opposed to the giants who have packers, redskins). if philly wins then pretty much the saints only have to win one of the last 3 games to secure a wild card spot.

im sure there is some other crazy possibility that would work to bump the saints, but i cant figure out another scenario.

if the saints win 2 out of 3 they clinch the 5th seed no matter what and if they win 1 of 3 they pretty much clinch the 6th seed. even losing all 3 they still have a good chance at the wildcard spot

falcons have to play seahawks, not the rams....

anyway, i was looking more in depth at this playoff picture and if shit goes according to plan, the giants or GB/bears get 6th seed, saints get 5th seed.

that means the saints play rams/seahawks and the 6th seed plays philly, which hopefully philly would win leaving the saints in a domed game! because it would really suck to have to play the semi finals away on a cold outdoor stadium for the saints.

then it would come down to the saints vs philly in the NFCC which would be the best possible nfcc game.

Also, no way in hell GB gets into the playoffs. It's all a matter of how Bears, Eagles, and Giants end up.

I think Chicago will be 2nd seed (Giants 6th, Eagles 3rd) because I don't see them losing to Vikings, Jets, or Packers, and I don't see the Giants beating the Eagles this week. Assuming the Eagles win this week, and also beat the Giants in the wild card round, then it's Saints vs. Falcons in the division round. If the Giants beat the Eagles in the first round, then we play the Bears in Chicago, and the less said about that the better.

So basically, yes, Eagles all the way.

However. If the Giants do beat the Eagles this week, then the Giants are pretty much a lock for the #2 seed, and the 6th-seeded Eagles will be playing the Bears in Chicago in the first round. And then things get interesting because we can end up visiting either Atlanta or New York -- if Eagles win, we go to New York, and if Bears win we go to Atlanta. I'd definitely like to postpone the Atlanta game if at all possible, so once again, GO EAGLES! Plus, everyone will love the drama of Vick returning to Atlanta.

I don't even want to go into what happens if the Jets beat the Bears, which is what I think you were originally saying. Philly at 2nd seed would be the worst case scenario imo... unless things have changed, they don't play in a dome!

er...  these guys are professional, you know, and a large number of Saints players have played in cold weather tons of times.

The Ravens aren't all that great, and it's not going to be all that cold (about 35 degrees).

Your stupid for wanting the Ravens to win to "not risk injury".

If the Ravens sucked as much as Cincy does I would worry, but Payton, Williams, Brees, and co. are going to prepare like all hell for this game.

You ain't gettin your wish, the Saints are going to beat the Ravens 27 - 10.  Matt Ryan is going to suffer and injury next week and the Falcons are going to lose against the Rams and the Saints, giving the the Saints the division.

Okay that last one is a pipe dream, but the Saints will will this Sunday, 27 - 10.

Seriously, the Falcons are not going to play the Rams. At least not during the season.

And if they play them during the postseason then things are seriously fucked up and the Sixth Seal will have opened.

The only way Saints get division is if ATL loses to the Saints next week + ATL losses to either SEA or CAR.  Carolina has no chance at all, but ATL losing to SEA isn't completely unimaginable.

I'll tell you one thing, I am a HUGE Seahawks fan tomorrow.

Yeah, well I guess I can take solace in the fact that the Saints lost to a good team.  I mean, it could have been a lot worse.

I'm happy if they nab the wild card.  Can't win it all every year, especially when your team is in such a tough division.

Oh, and there is no way the Saints can let the fucking Falcons sweep them this season.  I really, really hate those fuckers.  Really.  I was unaware I could hate a sports team and their fans as much as I hate them

This was the best they played all season. The two statements are kinda reconcilable.

I guess it's simple coincidence, because their record is good, but every Ravens game that was broadcast here looked bad. The fumblefest fiasco vs the Jets, the collapse vs the Falcons, the near-collapse vs the Texans... seemed like a team that couldn't quite hold together.

Also, Will Smith deserves to be beaten senseless by his wife tonight.

Beating ATL in the playoffs for the NFCC would be sooo much more enjoyable than beating them for the NFCS.

Let those cocksmokers get real close before the Saints rip it away from them.

On defense against the Jets, they played strong.  Especially on the road.

The Falcons game was bad.

But they also outplayed the Patriots in Foxboro.

If you followed the Ravens over the years, they've always kind of done that.  Sometimes they look really bad and get dominated, but then against some of the best competition (Pats, Saints) they really step their game up.

That runningback the Ravens had (IDK his nake) was almost unstoppable. I really thought The Saints were going to pull it off , That penalty late in the game is what killed them.
