But the mother and child fight eachother, which causes the birth trauma. Why do the animals have the same problem?

Well foals get stuck halfway out and often need help from the farmer/keeper/guy, so do cows/bulls or whatever the baby name for those are.

Animals in the wild die in birth all the time. As far as you know their minds run smoothly.
