So, I've mentioned the name a couple times in threads, and I've seen people mention it on this board as well.
Who plays it? What level are you? I was hoping we could perhaps get some group games in, as I'm looking for more friends to play with.
I'm currently level 26, and have played DotA on and off for years.
For those who don't know about it, it is a completely free action-RPG type game, where you usually play in a team of 5 vs another team.
Although the learning curve is steep, the match making system is quite good, as it will try to put you in a game where the teams average level is roughly the same as your team.
The game gets a new update every couple weeks, with balance changes, and sometimes a new champion and/or item. Visually, if you have a good computer, you can max out the settings, and if you have a bad comp, no problem cause it will still probably run fine on low.
Also if playing games with friends, Teamspeak or Ventrilo is a must.

Why do you think it's better?
I have played it, and don't think it's as good.
What are your reasons for liking it more than LoL?

I just dled LoL and I have been rocking it. It sucks that you have to use real money to get new costumes. I want new costumes!

Cant say I played LOL very much. But it would seem to me that HON is much more like DOTA then LOL, and DOTA is DOTA..  beside it looks much more pleasing to the eye

i like LOL, not a dota fan though so HON doesn´t appeal.
they´re starting to piss me off though. more than enough heros... lets have 3v3 solo ladder... or more maps...
or fricken denying which i can´t believe they still haven´t added.

LoL and HoN are both good, the thing with LoL that tends to be most appealing is that it is a Dota spin off that is free where as HoN is 30-50 dollars or something? HoN is faster paced towards the more competitive Dota player, where as LoL is more slow paced, since denying of creeps has been removed. Both have a good selection of heroes, with HoN remaking some old Dota ones, and LoL making a fairly more amount of new champions. I've played both and i'd currently say i prefer LoL over HoN, the game is more casual, and its easier to pick up, but LoL has its faults, patching, adobe air, and bugs, but for Riot Games' first game i'd say they did well. If you don't like either of those two, wait for Dota 2 (made by steam) or Blizzard Dota (make by...blizzard!)
Oh, and LoL gives away community prizes, ex: vote for us for "XYZ" and we'll give you a free skin/rune page/whatever

an advantage of LOL is it has fairly serious competitive play i think. Like real life finals for tournies with like 10k prize monies?

The competitive scene in HoN is a lot larger I'm pretty sure.
It feels like LoL is more catered to the casual player that never played DotA before. I mean, you can't even deny in LoL. Give me a break.

Well Im just stating my opinion. You did not said why you think LOL is better then HON. So dont accuse me of being baseless when you did the same thing. And since they are almost 97% the same game, I prefer to play the one which smells better.

eh i would say they´re different enough. If you like dota defintely go with HoN. I hated dota so lol appeals to me more.
except i wish they would add fricken denying. They have a little survery thing you can fill out asking what you want and denying has been on there forever. Enough fricken heroes.
WC3, battletanks pwned dota IMO.

i main Garen, Trynd, and occasionally Morde in 3v3 and was playing a lot of Twitch in 5v5 but i've pretty much fallen out of the 5v5 scene for the faster paced (usually) 3v3 games
as far as HoN, I was in the beta, and i liked the graphics a LOT better than LoL, however the fact that LoL is soooooo much more user friendly as far as the item shop and a few other things are concerned added to the fact that HoN is $30 and LoL is free unless you want skins and sillyness has led me to stick with LoL for the time being

I made this thread for a discussion about LoL. Then you came in and stated your opinion that another game was better.
It's similar to if someone made a thread about Left 4 Dead, and someone else came in and said "I THINK DOOM IS BETTER!!!11"
I had a suspicion that you've barely played LoL, so I called you out on it. And I was right.
I did not mention my opinions about HoN because this is not a LoL vs HoN thread. All I wanted to show was that your opinion was baseless. I actually have played HoN though, but again, I'm not going into it because this is not a LoL vs HoN thread.

Ok, I apologize for making you talk about something even if you did not wanted to talk about it in the first place. I am not saying its better, just that I prefer it over LOL, I mean it is better IMO, as I said it again. But that does not make it better for everyone else. But you could have ended this discussion at start saying "Its thread about LOL, case closed". So why do you have to test your suspicions, and prove me and my opinion to be baseless if you made LOL thread only? You dont have to answer, I realize Im taking this on away from OP, but it seems to me like you want me to respond again.

Because for a number of people on this forum, it was probably their first time hearing about the game, and if they see someone say that another game is better, they may not even bother checking out LoL.
If someone has never played DotA, or anything like it, they should probably play LoL first rather than diving into HoN.
If they try HoN first, they will probably end up getting completely raped. Where as if they try LoL first, it has a tutorial, a battle training tutorial, as well as the option of practice games (against bots, or people)... so it really helps newbies understand how to play before playing against people.

I see, but still there is few other games also, beside the 3 you mentioned here, and Im sure that not in all of them would newbies get raped. But whatever the case. Dota 2 is announced, and they will include bot's and even some kind of training games were experienced players would help newbies develop.
Beside man, read carefully, Hon is better IMO, that means I like it more then LOL, and if one dude says this is better then that, that really dont have any value, right? And that is not good reason at all. In the end both games are basically the same... peace and out.
