I think its funny how dogs are bred for certain things like herding sheep or retrieving ducks out of water or pulling sleds in the arctic. They have centuries of this behaviour bred into them. Its common and accepted as a bread characteristic. But when you have a dog bred for a certain behavioral characteristic like aggressive guarding or fighting off other dogs, alpha dog in a pack etc. everybody pulls the "oh no thats not the dog...thats the human being a poor trainer".
Sure you can train your dog to listen to your commands, and it should. Theres a time for aggression, and a time to play with children. But that doesnt negate the fact that some breads have had that instinct instilled into them over generations and generations.

Stay away from working breed dogs, which also seem to be most of your favorites except the boxer. The no yard situation will be the hardest thing. I know when I adopted my last dog from the humane society they actually required a "back yard check", meaning I needed on and also fenced in with a dog house. I didn't have a dog house at the time but they new it would be an inside dog 90% of the time. Anyone need a dog house? He hates it oh well it was free. Just my $.02

Actually a good owner is the key. Just because you have a boarder collie does not mean you let it heard children and if you have a pit you don't let it become aggressive. I really hate seeing all the pits from backyard breeders following every kid that wants to look cool. Of course I hate it more when they just tie the dog up and leave it there, that is THE WORST.

Holy jeez that is moronic. A doghouse check... Hardly a necessity. I've never even seen a dog use a doghouse unless it was tied to it all day. "Sorry I know you have a house of your own and a whole backyard, but you can't adopt a pet unless you have a wood box for it to live in."

That is my problem, no backyard makes it hard to have a dog. I'm looking into getting a Siberian Husky or a Native American Indian Dog. Both beautiful breeds with minimal birth defects, (due to being close relatives to the original Lupine lineage.)

Any info regarding C. paspali cultures, please me!

my goldendoodle's are the best part of my life
edit: as far as exorcise they will be fine with your schedule, although because they are very smart they might get bored and "punish" you until they get a little older. also are really big water dogs so swimming is a good thing.

Oh, my dog might be part Carolina Dog, which is the american/U.S. version of the Dingo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolina_Dog.

(HA you try and get two cats and a dog to pose ) I love dogs like that if you have a firm yet gentle hand. He is a very smart little beast but I know he can't be anything but a mut. This picture from almost a year ago...
There is jut some other traits that come out once and a while but he has very wild like instincts.
I will say we almost never got him, he was posted on the web as a Golden Retriever. Luckily we decided to go look at the dogs ourselves. Anyways, the lady that dealt with him said dingo. Seems like a carolina mix to me and I'll be damned he also has traits of both terrier and also rhodesian ridgeback. It is just weird that his mouth and skin are black, and no there is no chow, maybe a bit of something else I can't remember at the moment. If I had money I'd get him dna tested for S&giggles.
The problem with huskies imho is they need a lot of running space. My wife before I met her had a dog that sadly past away(put down tumor in the spine) a few years ago was 1/2 pit 1/4 dingo 1/4 australian shepperd. To freaking smart and stubborn for it's own good. I'd say it was a pain living with him in the city but when my wife lived with him in the woods, I can guarantee it would maim or kill something that went after her, or even had a bad vibe(tested and approved). Oh back to the beginning, my wife had a friend with an husky and that little beast would run full blast for hours and her dog would try and follow. He always got left behind eventually and then slowly make his way back home. They are great dogs though, my neighbor had one and it was pretty laid back except it wanted to get everyone walking by, I think it was just bored.
