Cute too, so he'll pull the human females within close proximity.
my dog is the same way. i have a mini schnauzer. little guy is the nicest dog ive ever owned.
i dont think hed have a problem keeping up with 10 miles a day. i give him 3 walks per day.. usually about 2 miles each.
dont really hit the dog park too often but when i do i always put him in the large dog section. the owners of the little ones freak out when dogs act like dogs.. hell curl up on the couch next to you and sleep all day but theres nothing wrong with getting a little crazy every once and a while.
took this pic the other day while playing outside:

I like beagles. They love the outdoors, are energetic, loyal, and just overall great dogs. They don't get too big but yet aren't too small.

i have a really awesome half pit/ half boxer/chow/rhodesian ridgeback mix.
she loves going outside and is a little hard to walk on a leash because she's really curious about everything and gets really excited when she meets other dogs, but other than that, she was super easy to train and has no behavioral problems whatsoever.
i got her at a shelter, and highly recommend you do the same. he/she'll love you for it.

Really though I want either a collie or a pitbull if I get another dog. Perhaps a mix.

HuHEN said: get a mutt
I like picking up animals from shelters; the only remaining one alive (although she stays with my mom) is such a mutt that it would be almost impossible to tell what she is. Undoubtedly has some Dachshund, but she's mid sized and heartwrenchingly goofy looking as a result. She's a very mellow dog and will do anything to please people.
A pure breed I rescued was a huge white American Shepherd; such an elegant, powerful, beautiful, and intelligent dog. Her last year was sad due to the debilitating hip dysplasia common in their breed, though.
My favorite dogs were a mutt, Jake. He was part Norwegian Ridgeback, Chow, German Shepherd, and Golden Lab, and the other an extremely fat Yorkshire Terrier named Bobo.
Mutts are known to usually be much healthier than pure breeds and can be rescued from shelters for little to no cost and save on species-specific vet bills later on in their lives.
I suggest a mutt, but if you want a pure breed you better find someone prepared to give away puppies or discount; not worth it and you don't get the satisfaction of saving an animal.
My TL;DR two cents.

I plan on adopting from the HS. I problably will get a mutt, but I wanted input on what breed to get if I do get fullbreed, and also what breeds to look for as part of the mixed breeds.

Malamus, Huskies, and Shepherds, then! Great alone and sometimes even better in gene blenders.

Im going to say goto the pound with no breed expectations. You walk around and interact with them you will just find the right one automatically, Ie when you know, you will know.
I have a terrier mix which now lives with My dad, A collie/lab mix and a German shepard. All completly different dogs but I care more about each of them then I do about most people.

Don't count out a terrier mix! I have one from a shelter, and he loves exercise, is INCREDIBLY expressive, painfully cute, and very smart. They also have great personalities!

Don't most terriers bark a lot though? Especially the Jack Russels.

Some other advice is that usually the dog picks you. You will know when its the right dog. Things will just kind of click. Happy Doggie Hunting

its all about how you train it.
pit bulls arent aggressive.. the owners either, actively or through poor training, make them that way.
my schnauzer barks when people walk in the front door. when i bought him i lived in a huge 6 bedroom house.. it helped cause i couldnt always hear someone knocking at the front door.
other than that he is silent.

So nature plays no role, and when it comes to dogs the nature vs nurture debate is settled to be nurture? I dont agree. Dogs do have a nature, and different dog breeds have different natures to them.
