LOL!!

Liberals have the hippies just like Republicans have the Evangelical Christians.

If a truly conservative candidate ever runs for president again, I'll be all over that.

The next four years are going to be fucking interesting.

What's gonna happen as the republican party splits?

Will the careerists win and nothing changes?

Will the democrats smash so hard that the republican party goes the way of the whigs altogether??

Will the republican party get replaced by the tea party (which will just be another set of financially huge libertarian giants)

Exactly this.  And it's not really their fault.  All candidates are forced by law to become corporate whores before they can run.  They are required to have a minimum of 150 million dollars in order to run.  Where else are you going to get that kind of money, if not from a corporation.  And if the corporations WON the election for you, you can't really go back on the promises you made to them.  It's a ridiculous system.

As for my political views, this guy said it best:

Quote:

TM2443 said:
Dems are the lesser of two evils IMHO, but I disagree with the idea that we all fall into one of two categories when it comes to society, economy, foreign relations, etc.

But yet I vote democrat because we can't handle anymore financial deregulation. Look where that got us. Or environmental/safety deregulation, e.g. bp oil spill

Republicans care about money. Democrats care about people (or want us to think they do) Democrats just can't seem to get their shit together this time around.

If I have to pay a little more taxes under a democrat so a single mother can get food stamps then so be it.

But once again, they're still both corporate whores, and even though the dems might care more about the people, they can't do anything about it because they're indebted to the corporations.  It's all a charade.

  The sad thing is, I think you are serious...  Yes, shroomers have have a diverse set of views and opinions.  We dont all march in lock step with the traditional hippie/liberal line.

I realize this upsets you, it does me too, which is why I hate this current political system of republican or democrat we have. It divides people into two groups, rather than unite them.

I have friends who do shrooms who arent on this site and from our experiences we have come to the conclusion that mushrooms make you more compassionate and care less about money, which is why liberals and hallucinogens tend to correlate

this is by far the most annoying and blatantly wrong defense of the democrats that i've encountered. it's sad that most of the uninformed people defending them have this point of view.

Well that's the stereotype anyway. You've heard the term, "bleeding heart liberal" used pejoratively right.

What I was referring to was republicans who want to cut the entitlement programs for the poor and cut taxes for the rich and Democrats who are lowering taxes for the poor and raising taxes on the rich, while keeping the entitlement programs in place.

Compassionate Care Centers aren't being raided anymore because of the switch from Bush to Obama.

There are a lot of people who take advantage of those places lol but I truly believe that a small minority of the "medical" users are doing it for legitimate reasons and treat the plant like the medicinal herb that it is

republicans are on average just as compassionate and supportive of social programs as dems. they just believe that it should be a private affair, not mandated by the government.

But to believe everything should be privatized there is an assumption of a trickle down, which i don't really buy into

And somehow you're better because you made that statement?

I understand politics is a touchy subject but name calling is just gonna make this thread that much more volatile.

I'll try not to offend the right leaning ppl on this board but politics is nasty business and ppl have strong opinions. Thats just how it is

I don't want this thread to turn into a flame war so I'll try and keep my bias in check for the sake of the board

Naw, just better because I don't associate 'enlightenment' with one ridiculous political party over another.

Divide and conquer.
