Theres a good link for some contamination pics.
When I did my first cakes I found that as the cake colonized it also shrunk a little in the jar, and I had some of the dry Verm layer at the top slip down the sides. Look close at it and see if it looks like chunks of verm. Keep in mind the bend in the glass my magnify it a bit.
Im a big fan of "Lets see what happens". If its contaminated theres not much you can do about it. If it was my cake I would wait it out and see what happens.

ok so from what i have been reading it might possibly be "myc piss" so as i wait and see does mold always spread...

This is a pic of green mold from when I noc'd up some jars with a bad LC. This is about 4 days after colonization began. The mold seems to grow just slightly slower than the myc in this instance. How long have those jars been colonizing?

Those pics were taken on day twenty (yesterday)...a side note, temperatures have been varying from around 72 to 79 in the closet they are in.

I wouldnt worry about it too much. My contam grew at a rate about as fast as the myc. My advice says wait it out and see. When you birth the cakes give them a good sniff, should smell like mushrooms. It took my first cakes awhile to conlonize. At the lower ends of those temps it will go slower. My motto lately is just see what happens. You will learn something whether you succeed or fail. Just remember to take the lesson with you.
For my own curiostiy, which strain did you go with? Why did you pick that specific one?

Thank you very much...the strain is Golden Teacher, no specific reason other than being one of the common strains I have read about. This is my first attempt, and in the four pack I got it was a combination of B+, GT, PE, and I got a free syringe of Treasure Coast. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance.

Oh you're welcome. Im still new to this too. But I've been studying at the Shroomery for about a year now. Best advice is Read, listen, experiment, and use the hell out of the search function.
Im really curious to see what you find out. Let me know how your first grow goes. The first time I saw my cakes pin, I thought I was gonna shit bricks. Did a little dance and everything.

I took every precaution to keep everything sterilized prior to and during inoculation, the only concern I have, and didn't think about it until these spots showed up, but I didn't wash the jars prior to adding the substrate. For some reason I thought they would be clean when I opened them for the first time. What I was thinking I'll never know, to be so careful with every little detail and honestly thinking they didnt need to be cleaned. Speaking of pinning, they will show up on their own right? and that is the point at which I should birth right?

The jars should be relitively clean whey you bought them. Plus, as long as you sterilzed the BRF then it should have killed anything and everything in the jar. When to birth has been a subject of debate. Some have said to wait until they pin in the jar, others have said to birth after you have full colonization. The route I went was to wait at least a week after full colonization to insure its colonized all the way through. What will cause them to pin are 3 things.
1. Temp fluctuation (Colder)- You already have this in your house. Shouldnt be an issue.
2. Light- They'll get it after you birth them and put them in your fruiting chamber.
3. Fresh Air Exchange- Again will occur after you birth and put them in your fruiting chamber. Make sure your FC has holes, do a search and you'll find a few different designs.
A lot a people will argue which way is best. But I say as long as you get some shooms, then you havent done it wrong.

yeah the second set of pics looks strikingly similar to what I have going on in the bottom of my jars...I did pressure cook the jars and took the necessary steps in regards to sterilization. I went ahead and did 10 jars, and yes a majority are showing these spots on the bottom, but only along the outer ring. Looked at them earlier and over the past 24 hours there hasnt been any growth of the spots, so I think I might be ok. cross ur fingers. I wouldnt be surprised if the spots are as a result of moisture, I have just the 4 innoc holes on top, untaped, and a verm layer. Should I flip them over, or am i just asking for trouble at that point?

I flipped mine over. Didnt cause any problems for me. I still think those spots are verm from your dry layer that fell down. Looks like those jars are mostly colonized. Wont be long now!

The lighting on those pics is MUCH better. Doesnt look like much has changed to me. Do you notice any difference?
