From what i've heard should be releasing this oct.
Unfortunately it is not being created by Bethesda (oblivion, fallout 3) but supposedly will till be running on the same basic engine. I fucking LOVED fallout3 so im really excited for this. Anyone else?

I dunno. I liked FO3 but I think it was the uniquity that sold me on it. A lot of the expansion packs felt like really tired rehashes of missions I'd already done, and so I started to lose some faith in the potential for expanding upon FO3 without some major engine evolving.
However, they may have gone more progressive with it than I am assuming. I just hope it doesn't feel like a big expansion pack of FO3. It's not that I didn't like FO3... just that there is always room for improvement. Or, if they do go that way, it better have some fucking unique content to make up for it.
Again, I am a little jaded from the expansion packs...

I'm looking forward to this. As much as i loved Bethesdas involvement in the Elder Scrolls series, The development is charged by many of the former black isle employees, which is a good thing. And i'll be interested to see how Chris Avalones writing is in regards to the story line.
Other things like iron sight aiming, crafting, hardcore mode; are going to add to it nicely IMO. I can already see myself wasting time scavenging for plants and items to craft haha, just like in Oblivion.
Sounds like theyre going to have some DLC very shortly after, i rarely get this sort of thing, usually because its highly overpriced in my currency. But still looking forward to it in its vanilla glory.

Well I haven't really looked into it at all. If you're saying they're implementing some new stuff, it should be a lot of fun. I'm not sure about the Vegas setting though... I would have gone with a spanning European campaign design or something...

Well I think they thought it was the next place with the highest density of recognizable landmarks.
If they did europe they would have to have you get around a lot, so you'd see lots of familiar landmarks. They might have decided against europe because all the potential landmarks are already really old, lol... but I mean, so was DC relatively speaking.
I think that they should do Egypt and have the pyramids being utilized as giant fortresses and shit, that'd be nuts. But I guess that area is probably too touchy a subject to get into in a game like Fallout... heh.

That would suck. No Power Armour, no Brotherhood of Steel, no Super Mutants, no Enclave....
But New Vegas looks sweeeet! Hardcore mode should be lots of fun hopefully

Was europe not affected at all by the war or something?

Evolution requires forward momentum, I always say. I am hoping for something new and improved, but somehow get the feeling it's going to be more subtle than I'd prefer.

subtler... fine.
just make it feel like fallout and not like oblivion.
even if it using the same engine that is no excuse, don't be lazy.
^ my message.
thank you, game developers... and now would you kindly MAKE A DECENT ITERATION OF A NEW GAME ALREADY! and not just leave it up to the older school devs or third party devs.
get killzone in business already... and fucking make a better GTA... oh wait, screw that... just keep making new ideas like RDR!
or make a new gta with (god forbid) another name (call it the agency... oh wait )and make it like some crazy hitman game online.
(guess who thought of that when he was 15 well it was only skimmed across the board by devs in 2002... huh? can you guess? can you believe? it wasn't to hard to imagine... i just mixed hitman and gta together and made it and mmorpg. oops did i give away the surprise?)
and look how long it is taking... long time to deveop soemthing NEW AND ORIGINAL.

No, it was, but all those things were in America. The Super Mutants were made in California, or somewhere on the West Coast. The Vaults were an American thing, AFAIK. A European one could be alright, but loads of things symbolic with Fallout wouldn't be there.

The idea of a Fallout outside of the US sounds fantastic. The entire world was affected by the war.

Yeah, but none of the iconic Fallout things would be there. Personally, I don't think it would be great

You underestimate the creative abilities of the developers. They have already taken the franchise to Cali, DC, Pittsburgh, Alaska, State Park in Maryland, a UFO, and so forth. They could certainly create a fantastic Fallout universe in Europe.
