Here is my mini with 11/64 " holes. I tried it at ambient rh of 45-55 and found the evaporation to be insufficient. It was set and forget and yielded just over 2 oz first flush.

Here is my other mini with 1/4" holes and a solid lid; also set and forget. The evaporation was a little too much, I think just a tad less would have been better. It also yielded just over 2 Oz first flush.

Next tub is gonna be 3/16" holes.
Your First Mini is the Exact Tub I have. If you would can you tell me what a good Hole ratio would be. I will be using BRF cakes and have not drilled the holes yet. Thanks!

I made the assumption that my yard stick was 2" in width when I marked the rows. It was not. So I have modified the specs to read that the holes are 2" apart horizontally and 1" vertically.
The original rows were 1.25" apart not 2" as I thought. I just dropped it down to an even 1" instead. Still the same number of holes.
Tek, with pics, will be finished today.

My first couple grows were wbs and coir in these containers. Misted/fanned a couple times a day. I got decent yields, but contamination was an issue with 4 consecutive monotubs. I wanted to use the same containers, but minimize my losses, so I have been trying to use up various plastic containers I have around the house, as well as the bazillion grocery bags I have accumulated. So far, so good with no contamination in the last six monos. Only problem I have ran into with the plastic containers is increased evaporation due to the larger surface area. I have misted them before bed and woken up to find them dry.

I am hoping that using the grocery bags will be even better than the containers. They should allow more of the cropping area in the tubs to be utilized, as well as function like the plastic liner in the bottom of some monos, reducing evaporation and side-pinning, and if one gets contaminated, I can hopefully just pull it out before it spreads to the others.
I'm using 58qt sterlite containers with 3/16th holes ~2in. Occasional (3-6x) fanning and misting every day. Fruits tend to be small, but I suspect it is due to either too low humidity or too much misting.

Hey everyone I've been lurking on here for a while now just taking in the vast amount of information that is the shroomery. Just recently I've decided to dive into cultivation and after much deliberation settled on a MSG. I just finished making a "ghetto"glove box and was going to start on my tubs but realized that I'm using a 58 qt 1847 sterilight which is obviously much larger then doc t's mini. So my question is should the size of my holes be the same and what would you suggest the distance between them be? I hope this is an appropriate place to ask for help if not please point me in the right direction. Also my plan is to use my closet and keep it at 75-80 with a space heater will this cause any problems since I will have to keep the door closed as much as possible. With the closet heated the humidity was around 50%. Thanks again, the only other thing I can think of is when misting how much do you spray?

I'd use the same hole pattern. No space heater in a closet. Room temp is just fine. I don't think you can fruit in a closet though. Maybe.

The closet, how big is it? You need fresh air exchange. BC

There ya go man, that is encouraging news. Be sure to fan the closet out as much as possible. Go get em man! Keep us posted, I was just saying bowing would liketo see a well educated noon jump right into grains. BC

hmmm shitty, any ideas? Also why wouldn't the space heater work? Without it the room is like 60 degree or it something. Once again thanks for the help I'm not trying to clutter the thread up -GB

My place rarely gets above 70. Colonization is fine. Space heater is ok for a big room, but it's too hot and dry and dangerous to put in a closet. And you don't need it.

Wow, tubs are the way to go. My friend's cat thinks that it's just as, if not easier to do a monotub than it is to do cakes.
Here's his cat's first monotub which is currently on its first flush. Just kinda guessed at the tub and holes, etc but it seems to be doing ok. Can his cat pick the ones that are big and then let the ones that are smaller pins develop before he floods the tub or do they all need picking at once?
