The first grow I did was on BRF with Ecuador, and a lot of people who tried my fruits had never had such nice mushrooms... So that's my 2 cents.

The fact that they were grown out Psilocybe Fanaticus style has absolutely nothing to do with potency...Period.

It's genetics....

It's like you've got a syringe full of Germans. You want to isolate, on agar, the strongest, purest Germans you can find. OK OK BAD EXAMPLE...

:highfive:

Like Koolaid said,if the dose you take doesn't work, eat more...but if your serious about potency, try growing another species other then Psilocybe Cubensis.

If your friend is comfortable with the standard PF TEK he/she could try a different species.
Panaeolus Cyanescens can be grown on modified PF TEK cakes with manure added to the substrate; minus the recipe the procedure is nearly the same but the potency is greatly increased.
Instructions and recipes can be found in the "Grow" section of this site.
Good Luck

A friend of mine was curious to see if there was any way of increasing the potency of his crop from PF cake's besides the Tryptamine HCL method.

Tryptamine has not been shown to increase potency after hundreds of attempts to duplicate Gartz' results.  If it can't be duplicated, then it's not a valid procedure.  Cubensis will have up to a 10X variation in potency from mushroom to mushroom on the same substrate, so that's probably what Gartz was seeing, not any difference caused by tryptamine.

PF cakes will grow mushrooms with the same potency as any other substrate.

To my knowledge they do not have anything that psilocybe cubensis does not, just more of it. I might be wrong though.

According to this  page on wikipedia, "Several members of this genus [Panaeolus] are known to contain psilocin and psilocybin and it is suspected that a number of other members of this genus contain unidentified psychoactive compounds. [2] All members of this genus contain serotonin, urea, and tryptophan."
