Realized that the military...

...is not the place for me.
This morning I spent every minute contemplating all the possible outcomes if I do in fact ship off;
Nothing good. I'm a scholar by heart, and I don't think I have the psychological fortitude to withstand boot camp or AIT. I'm not unfit (physically), but I feel that my whole life has been revolving around education, and to forgo that is cheating myself, my family, my teachers. I wasn't brought up to be a soldier, I never envisioned myself being a soldier. I just know that I'd rather be broke, living at home or with my girlfriend, than go through with training; than commit myself to being property of the government.
I think I'll call whomever I need to call and tell them how badly I fucked up, and how I can't withstand the psychological strain being a soldier requires.
Anyone have thoughts or suggestions? Support? Or just their quips on how I'm taking the coward's way out?

I sent a separation letter to the commanding officer of the recruitment station, hopefully I get can word soon enough. If not, I'll just bake myself to hell prior to ship.

Cool.
Do your time, get a home loan and a foreign wife and a free education. Four years of no drugs* is worth it.
*Other than alcohol, tobacco, coffee, and anything they don't test for.
Or wear pink panties to the induction center. That might work.

go to a psychologist and explain your reasoning. Chances are good that between the two of you, you can come up with a reason why you're mentally unfit for duty, thus terminating your enlistment.

I was in the army for 9 weeks. Couldnt handle it. I downed 60+ ibuprophen, woke up with a bleeding ulscer. Got medical leave. Didn't go back. Waited a month. Turned myself in and VOILA! Instant General Discharge.
True story.

Fuck boys... What makes you guys enlist?
I can't understand. After you see the "war" and all the bullshit that's going on.
It can't be about national pride can it? I mean, I love Canada, but unless something brings a war here to disturb my way of life, there's no fucking way I'm going to volunteer my life for it.
I'm not being critical, some people are born soldiers. But I genuinely want to know what drives people to do this.
GL on getting out of that OP. It's cool to hear about this shit.
