Go get high and read actual science articles instead of watching television and replacing deliberate insight with passive reception.

That's one of the illusions that television preserves; that there are such things as "professionals" and "experts" who deliver to the common, mouth-breathing proletariat the sophisticated information about topics that he and she will otherwise never understand. Besides, science is more accessible than through a soothing Hollywood voice, the media charisma of a chatty Asian, or pictures from the Hubble.

I was starting to get weary of all these cable-tv science shows. Michio Kaku is definitely way over exposed, and don't get me started on Stephen Hawking. But Morgan Freeman is da man! I've actually enjoyed his Through the Wormhole series.

If Cosmos learns about the world exclusively on channel 6, then yes.

I think he's saying if it's on TV it can't be learned from. At least not as well as reading scientific journals.
No point in going to lectures from now on, I'll obviously learn more by reading than by listening to the guy who wrote the book.

He may in fact, be a literal bum, only able to make himself known to us here by occasionally stopping into dark internet cafes to make a few quick, frantic posts before the owners force him to leave because of the stench of rotting vegetables and desperation wafting forth from his pores.

Carl Sagan is one of the universe's many fancy costumes it occasionally pulls out of the closet to re-imprint its audience: aka you, aka itself.

Probably a good decision when the lectures are made by multiple scene cuts that exacerbate ADD, accompanied by commercial breaks, engineered by digital programmers from the entertainment industry, and supplemented with bells and whistles or elevator music.
In the mean time, enjoy your lectures.

Encouraging people to quit consuming culture and start creating it isn't elitist; that's what Saint guru Mckenna himself preached.
And it's not a "1 hour time period" for you, kiddo. I've seen dozens of threads from you about Macho Machismo.
You don't have to be a professional, just add quality to your understanding of something--it helps to be well-rounded, otherwise you judge good hamburger meat at fast food restaurants instead of Argentinian barbecues.

Morgan has a soothing voice and gives off nice vibes. Talking about the psychology of media is not pertinent to the topic. Good day sir!

That show is amazing.
I can't remember exactly which episode it is, but the one describing parallel universes is intense
