Incorrect.
CO2 is heavier, but BARELY. It will not sit at the bottom of anything. It will simply mix into the surrounding air, causing that air to have more CO2. There is no seperation into layers.
If CO2 was indeed noticebly heavier than 02, than all life on the Earth's surface would die of CO2 poisoning. There is C02 found VERY high up into the atmosphere.
But what the OP needs is indeed FAE. Borrow a drill and drill those holes in all sides

I don't think thats correct.
At the risk of making myself look dumb...
CO2 is almost 30% heavier than O2. Yes it will mix into the air, but if the air isn't moving, I believe it will have a tendancy to stay put. I also believe that the reason for distribution of CO2 in our atmosphere is due to atmospheric pressure, air pressure, and currents, as well as temperature. If you have a bucket with mycelium producing CO2, and 18" between the sub and the top of the bucket, I do believe that your bucket will have a higher CO2 concentration than ambient.

I agree with numi, just make sure to drill the holes and not to have smoke from plastic going inside your container while the mushrooms are still in there. its fine to melt the holes beforehand and wipe w/ alc, but swim just wouldn't want to expose any of their mushies to that, there are dozens of chemicals released when burning plastic.

You are correct, but the amount of time for it to separate is vast. And no internal currents at all? Very unlikely. Any disturbances, even minor ones, will almost completely mix together any CO2 and air.
Simply put, when mushrooms are growing in a bucket, there will be no CO2 separation. In the wise words of RogerRabbit himself...

RogerRabbit said: CO2 doesn't 'sink to the bottom' or 'pour out like water'. It mixes with the air and raises the CO2 content. CO2 can be measured in the upper reaches of the atmosphere. If it all settled to the bottom (ground) it would snuff out life on earth.

RogerRabbit said: CO2 is found high in the atmosphere, not just at the surface. It's the same in your terrarium. In a completely airtight container, the CO2 would sink to the bottom. Such is not the case with our growing containers.
