some people are just seriously retarded. Once when I was like 16 I was shit faced at a party and the guy went up stairs and came back down with his beretta. I was out of the house and down the street within seconds, I dont fuck around like that. That kid is a fucking dumbass, didn't really know him till that day. The type of person that get's drunk and pulls out his pistol to look cool..

i don't mean i blame just the mom-- but i'm pretty sure any gun owner would agree that keeping a loaded gun in an unlocked drawer, unattended, and in a house with young children is dangerous and irresponsible. so she definitely shares in the blame for this death.
the kid made a very dumb decision when he (1)pointed a gun at someone, (2)assumed it was unloaded rather than loaded. these should be the first things someone should be taught to not do when handling guns-- this leads me to believe the kid didn't know much about guns other than that his mom had one and they were cool seeming, and wasn't thinking too much of consequences.
sure he still carries blame, because another kid is dead and in the end he is the one who pulled the trigger, but think how many times as a kid you did something very stupid without thinking-- it just happens that the stupid choice this kid made was a VERY stupid one, but unless you've forgotten what it was like to be a kid you should know that kids do dumb things without thinking all the time and it is the parents job to be aware of this.
that's why i blame the mom/owner of the gun more than the kid who pulled the trigger.

Well nothing remotely this stupid. I was a very responsible little boy, and had parents who taught me to think about the consequences of my actions from a very early age.

this is an entirely different level of stupidity. Stupid things I did as a kid were like drop things or accidentally hit someone with a baseball. I never pointed a real gun at someone at shot at them. I mean seriously, even when I was in first grade I knew that you shouldn't fuck with guns. My parents don't have guns but unless you live under a rock, you should know that you are not supposed to point a gun at anything you don't intend to kill.

I'll tell this brief story, I'd make it longer but I've only heard certain details:
One of my sister's friends was drunk at a party and decided to bring his shotgun out. He then handed it to his other friend, who proceeded to accidentally discharge it, which blew a giant hole through the shoulder of the gun owner (who brought out the shotgun in the first place).
The guy who got shot lost consciousness and was helicoptered out. The other guy spent the next 2 days in jail not knowing whether or not he killed his best friend (he didn't get updates on the guy's condition, apparently).
Dude survived (and didn't press charges) and his friend is out of jail and everything now , but my point is that a lack of common sense is to blame. Alcohol was a pretty big contributing factor in this case but a lack of judgment on the part of whoever pulled the trigger, regardless of age or intoxication is the really who holds the responsibility.
What do you guys think? Was it the guy's own fault that he got shot, since he brought out a loaded shotgun? Or is the fault of his friend, who pulled the trigger?

Well, in that case I think its both of their faults.
1. Why the fuck would you bring out a loaded shotgun into party? And then give it to a drunk person 2. Why would you have it aimed at someone in the first place?
Back to the OP, i didn't realize that the kid walked infront of the gun. I had assumed he was like pointing it at his friend for the lulz.

Both of them are at fault.
He shouldn't have brought the gun out, stupid decision making, even if he was drunk. And also handing it to his friend, and his friend for firing it. Ugh, just a stupid situation.
My cousin got drunk with his friends and got into a car and went joyriding, got in an accident and the passenger died. He went to jail for a year.
Same with the video, It's the kids fault for bringing out his gun and accidentally shooting his friend. But he also said his friend moved infront of it at the last minute.

Can someone explain to me how drunk people think guns are a good idea?
Even if I am blacked out or near blacked out drunk, never ever have I even considered doing anything that stupid.
The problem comes in when people who take drugs treat them like a license to behave like an asshole. -- Frank Zappa
"Sorry, dude. I was drunk" I do not understand this concept. How much does alcohol actually override someone's ability to make a normal decision?

guns can be dangerous, so it's a thrill, and alcohol increases risk-taking behavior
I go out shooting with my hillbilly cousins all the time, and we're always drinking when we do it.
we were all brought up around guns though so everyone's extremely careful about keeping them aimed downrange
