House remodel

Couple years ago my wife and I bought a house to "flip". Did all the work ourselves and learned a lot. It was WAY more work than we had intended, and it took about 3x as long... Since we got the DIY forum here, I thought I'd show off a few shots.
It's not a spectacular house, so we had to keep our costs low. A lot of the interior stuff came from IKEA. Looks cute, but is cheap.
We intended to just clean it up, but the more we dug, the more we wanted to rip it out and make it nice.
Gutted:

Before and After Shots:

Anyway.. Hope you like. We didn't make much money off it because the length of time it took us to do it, and the timing of the market. But we made a couple bucks, and more importantly, didn't lose our shirt.
Things I learned: 1: Popcorn ceilings suck ass. 2: I don't like plumbing 3: I REALLY don't like drywall 4: Fixing old wiring is harder than just running your own new stuff.

I'm curious -
You say you bought a couple of years ago meaning presumably two. So you either paid cash or financed this home and have since spent considerable time and money fixing up the house since then. In the meantime you have received no rent. Apparently you haven't sold yet either so how have you exactly "made a couple of bucks"? If you say I bought cheap enough versus what I expect to sell it for after all my costs, what about all your TIME? Did you have enough left over to pay yourself?
I like the fact you did it yourself, learned a lot and kept your costs low. Looks to me you did a great job redesigning in terms of reusing space by eliminating the garage and recapturing living space and based on what you did in the kitchen. Light colors always work.
Did you get all your permits and inspections done with the electrical in particular? I know you obviously are on top of your game so they are all on file.
P.S. If you are going to keep this one or the next one as a rental, I would suggest no more laminate in the kitchen. Use the no glue linoleum, much more water resistant and a lot easier to install (although laminate ez too). At $15 a sq. yard for some very nice no glue linoleum I bought recently it compares to all but the cheapest laminate.

Oh I sold it just a few days after the renovations were complete. Didn't mean to imply that I still owned the place. Just now getting to posting pictures since I noticed the DIY forum
Initial Cost X$ Materials Y$ Monthly Mortgage Z$ Closing Costs W$
Sold it for X+Y+(9*Z)+W+$15,000.
Monitarily was it worth it? Probably not. But would I still do it again if I could go back in time? Probably. I kind of wish I would have kept it as a rental, but at the time I was looking for a bit of quick cash. Although it would have depreciated a bit due to the economy, in the long run I would have made more on it most likely.

What's amazing is that people could become rich landlords in a market that generally went down minimum 20% while hiring contractors such as plumbers and electricians.
Fucking Amazing.
Oh wait NOW you admit Life In The Real Estate Market Is But A Dream?
Busted Zappa Of course not keep spewing BS...

If I said I made a profit, then I made a profit. Making $15k or so on a house flip isn't exaclty big money. Especially when I did 100% of the work myself.
Sounds like you lost money in real estate lately?

Not a prayer I don't sell when it's down but good news I bought so cheap and rented so long I am in Fat City.
As for your "story", if you made $15k over a TWO YEAR "house flip" then I would frankly be amazed. I think you are BSing...

Nowhere did I say it took 2 years. If you look at my basic equation you'll see that I payed 9 months mortgage, which was still 3x as long as planned, but hey, you can't really predict when you're wife is going to get deathly ill, now can ya?

Ok, let me elaborate:
Couple of years ago my wife and I bought a house to flip. And then we sold it 1 year and 3 months ago.
