I think the original defnition of "wook" posted at the beginning of this thread is a little different from what I've heard, too... Maybe it's just cuz I learned the East Coast definition - dirty hippie with no real philosophy or goal in life but to get high constantly. Will steal your drugs/shoes/girlfriend/money... whatever they can get. Don't shower. Go on tour & lurk around in the lot lookin 4 drugs. Pretty much what he was saying, with a few minor details being different.
I've met a few people like this in my life, and they suck. 
But someone who's just a plain ol' "hippie" I have no problem with. Just cuz you wanna smoke pot & not shower for days & philosophize on life with your buddies, ain't no thang. You're not bothering anybody doin that. Least of all me.

This, and they are usually so drug addled that they take the lazy hippie "Ill throw on whatever clothes are nearby till I can get naked again" mentality one step further to "I'll take whatever bizarre flashy piece of clothing I find in someone else's car" leading them to loo like something youd see in a bizarre fashion magazine or something youd see a famous eccentric wearing.
This causes a mish-mash of clothes that dont typically get worn together, such as punk threads with hip hop threads with goth threads with hippie threads with raver threads and not just your generic garden variety pseudo hippie in a tye die and patchwork pants.
It's an amalgamation of drug inducing cultures and these folks usually have a much broader musical taste than your typical dead/phish hippie.
Alot of them arent even into the music but only like the scene for the drugs.

 @ the tie-dye & patchy pants... I used to wear that all the time.
And you hit the nail on the head w/ the part about only being into the drug scene that goes along w/ the music. Basically what I was trying to say w/ the thing about hanging out in the lot lookin 4 drugs. Kinda lame imo.

Basically what seperates a wook from a hippie is the reason they are even on the lot at all.
I look the part but I do go for the music...it's just that lately I feel Im becoming more wookish than I was and more often it's becoming about the party.

this thread has inspired me to pick up a 40oz when I head down to the park in a few minutes. I'm rolling up the dooobie now.... there are plenty of gas stations along the way :-) I too have a full bushy beard and the long hair. I bathe though.

Amen brotha! Its so sad how so many people succumb to the pressures of society to get an education and get a high paying job so you can be "happy". I totally agree.
The worst part is they make us out to be outlaws by making money illegal.
You gotta put it into the bank, you gotta go into debt.
You gotta pay the man his slice of the pie or he'll take your freedom away.
That or youve gotta stay impoverished and pennyless(atleast outwardly so)

I always prefer to trade whenever possible.
Years ago I woulda said all money is bunk and we need to always trade for everything but I realize now it isnt always 100 percent possible when we are stuck in Babylon.
The whole world isnt Rainbow Hippie Lot Fest fun land (unfortunately).
I get so depressed when I get stuck in a town full of normies and then my capitalist "friends" try to brainwash me with their ego games and make me one of them.

Im over labels and trying to look too closely into their meanings, I just think the culture of consuming as much drugs as possible, funding it by selling food, sharing a little with some hetty fam and not giving a fuck how you look doing it is rad and deserves the attention of a good lambasting.

they sound kind of distrust worthy. Also, what is the "lot", it sounds hallarious, but i don't think we have lots in my country, or perhaps they just go by different names.
