Being an EMT has taught me a lot about life. Never have 2 beers! Most of the people who I pull out who are obviously drunk say " But I only had two beers" Tell that to the 20 year college girl who is never gonna walk again.
The other thing it has taught me is never to mind my own business.
" I was just minded my own business when this guy beat me with baseball bats and stole my wallet"
It only takes that one time for you to end up in a wheelchair or hurting someone. I hope you get a DUI before you do either and get your licenses and car taken away. Driving is a responsibility not a right.
--------------------

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

FACT: Alcohol raises your confidence. FACT: Alcohol lowers your motor skills and reaction time.
If you can't put 1 plus 1 together, and realize that this means driving drunk is dangerous, stupid, and wrong-- I hope the only life you fuck up is your own. No one is the 'one who kills your kid' until you kill a kid.. then it's too late.

First page pretty much sums it all up...
I guess we will all know when youre dead.
Hopefully youre not one of the drunks who survive while the other individual doesnt even have a chance.
Keep thinking youre above the rest when it comes to drunk driving and thats exactly what it will take to let you slip up. You must not enjoy life.

Drinking and driving is not responsible by any means. It doesn't matter how safe of a driver you THINK you are, but fact of the matter is that you're still intoxicated. Drunk and sober driving isn't about you causing accidents. It's also about your ability to avoid someone else's error. Perhaps the drunk driver could have avoided the guy that ran the stop sign if they weren't drunk. Maybe a drunk person would have noticed the vehicle about to rear end them and could have reacted appropriately if they were sober.

A coked out driver in an extended bed truck loaded with granite ruined my life forever.
Sometimes I wish I died, which I nearly did.
Now I'm pretty much a chronic pain patient and a junkie at the same time.
Fuck all of you that get behind the wheel and potentially ruin lives on any substance that impairs your ability to operate a motor vehicle. I'm sorry.

Obviously, drunk people get into crashes and kill people.
But, sober people get into crashes and kill people too.
What makes the headlines is the guy/gal who was drunk.
It's a double standard. If you kill a guy sober, no one cares.
If you kill a guy drunk, you're fucked.
I just never really got this.
Yeah, some people can handle driving while buzzed... others (maybe the majority) can't.

The problem is alcohol GIVES you extra confindence and delusions of being better than you really are while TAKING AWAY your motor skills and reaction time.
Thinking you drive better drunk is really dumb, and an almost sure sign of alcoholism or worse.

Dont apologize man...its not your fault. And I am sorry that happened to you.
I say fuck motor vehicles in general. Driving sober or intoxicated, motor vehicles cause more harm than good. I actually think its a shame we rely on them the way we do.

Being buzzed vs Being shit faced is completely two different things. That's why there's a legal limit, but then there are also no tolerance policies. Personally, if someone has only had about two beers and still decides to drive. I don't think that's an issue. I'm sure most of us that are occasional drinkers have done that before. But if you've had say 4 shots, a heavy mix drink or anymore than 4 beers or so than I don't believe you should be driving. In all honesty if you get in a car accident because you're buzzed, you shouldn't be drinking in the first place.

If any good does come out of this thread its that it has convinced me. I'm meeting my family out for dinener and I know I'll be drinking so I am going to be sure to take a car. I've been starting to do that a lot more often.
-------------------- We have not even to risk the adventure alone, for the heroes of all time have gone before us — the labyrinth is thoroughly known. We have only to follow the thread of the hero path, and where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god; where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves; where we had thought to travel outward, we shall come to the center of our own existence. And where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world.

there should be a drunk driving test where if you can pass a driving test at .08 then on your license it says that you're okay to drive up until .08 this is stupid.

FeedingMyDreams don't listen to them man.
I've driven while "drunk" a number of times and I never had a problem.
Seriously look around, all the roads are made drunk driver proof. They got super shiny lines on the ground, signs all over the place, big bright lights etc. All you gotta do is gas break and steer. Not that hard.
As long as my vision is blurred and I can walk in a straight line, I don't see why I'm not capable of driving.

BOTTOM FUCKING LINE
Alcohol intoxicates you. Your senses and judgment is dulled. This is a fact. That means that when you drive while intoxicated, your abilities are not what they were sober.
The quality of your driving is irrelevant. It doesn't matter even if you're correct and you in fact, are an amazing driver.
The point is: you can do a lot of potential damage with a vehicle, and operating it when your abilities aren't at their BEST is just irresponsible and selfish. I don't give a fuck if you think you're a great driver, I don't want to share the road with ANY drunk people. No time to split hairs.
