i see what youre saying. so instead of waiting we should take preventative measures and nuke them now.

Thank you! A good read and seems to be well documented. What surprised me most is George W's ranch in Crawford is off the grid.

New technologies won't be developed in time.
Did you even read the link?
Production follows discovery and major oil finds have followed that bell curve just as Hubbert predicted. Oil doesn't have to "run out overnight" to cause major disruption in oil supplies and thus price. If you read history you know that wars come on the heels of resource depletion. That's how humanity typically handles these things as opposed to rationality.
First of all, it's not magic -- it's the market (potatoe patato?)
Secondly, no - I dont read links.
Thirdly, I want to know some wars that were started as a result of depleting resources. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that I'm not aware of any (and i'm always trying to learn new things, right?)

I'm still recovering from the Super Bowl. Do your homework and we may discuss this later.
There is tons of information on this topic on the internet if you are really interested.

And I am interested, but not enough to sacrifice my already limited time (yea yea yea I know i'm here on the shroomery enough already).
I got a class tonight from 7-10pm and my first exam of the semester tomorrow morning at 9:30am. Throw two jobs in there and you've got my life.
I'll contribute what I know to topics that come up here on the shroomery, but I'm not going to spend time I can't afford reading links that may or may not be complete garbage (you've got to admit, a fair percentage of the ones posted here are trash).
So as a result, I don't read them, and I just say waht I think, and you've either got to (a)read it, (b)ignore it, or (c)ignore me I am indifferent to your choice.
But really -- tell me some wars fought over depleting resources.

Well the link I posted has a reference or source for every fact they state, but alot of it you can gather on your own. When you look at it without bias, you gather quite plainly that our society relies too heavily on fossil fuels, and it is getting beyond the point of recovery. I do not advocate any doomsday theory, but I simply look at it with the only way I know best, science. When you look at the fact and science of the situation at hand, it becomes very clear.
The same goes for my belief in the 2012 theory. If you look at it from a scientific standpoint, you realize our solar system is dipping in and out of cosmic weather, the same way our Earth dips in and out of the seasons through out the year. The 2012 date just so happens to coincide with the position our solar system is in the Galaxy.
We cannot simply imagine what will happen, as cosmic weather is a whole nother brother compared to our own solar systems weather. I can tell you this: We are moving closer to a central energy, and just like summer on Earth, our solar system will be filled with more energy. How this will affect us on Earth is hard to determine. Sorry to get off topic but I had posted that relation in the original post. Just to clarify things a bit
Peak Oil is nothing like 2012 though. Peak oil is a very real thing scientists have been trying to resolve since the 70's.

I watched the Collapse documentary, and found it mostly interesting, but he didnt bring up anything I didnt already know from my own reading. Still, very true and very interesting.
My family already could live self sustainably... we live on top of a mountain in our new mountain home, with fresh stream water a mile away. We have a 8 x 10 greenhouse we are currently constructing, and plan to grow 75% of our greens, 100% of my food . We have sevreal raised beds, a few blueberry bushes, blackberry bushes, a young peach tree, a young apple tree. Having the ability to live self sustainably now is very reassuring, even if there isnt a crisis at all (thats like saying there is an infinite amount of oil), then we have an abundance of fresh food.

Don't worry guys I am going to school so I can fix this problem. All in good time.
Also, once oil becomes scarce it's all going to be kept for military use only of course so the "end" could come sooner than actual depletion.

Permaculture really is the way of the future imo. IDK if I mentioned it in this thread, but I plan to travel to Hawaii, to stay there for a few months, or maybe even years, to further learn about Permaculture.
There are 4 essentials you need to be fully alive:
Food Water Air Community
And not everyone is fully alive as we arent centered on community, in fact most families in America are so segregated its normal for the child to never speak to the parent. Everyone doesnt eat the healthiest foods available, we are more focused on the convenience of food, rather than its nutrition. Not everyone drinks enough water everyday. In fact 3/4 of America is under-hydrated all the time. And not everyone is breathing the way they should. Some people may have sinus issues, or they have mucus in their lungs that doesnt allow proper gas exchange. Even if you are healthy, it is good to learn healthy breathing habits, and yoga is the perfect tool to learn a calm, healthy breath.
We are mostly fucked up as a whole species, but we are eventually going to learn from our mistakes when the time comes, hopefully .

I agree except for the idea that community is needed to be alive...

Don't forget that if things break down completely you'll also eventually renewable (plant) sources of medicine as well.
That's one thing I've been focusing on lately and something most people overlook.
