the small time players like prison guards resent not being full fledged stormtroopers and take it out on prisoners in little things like refusing transport, medications, and allowing one to fill out little things like reports to one's PO indicating one is in jail and why one isn't at the scheduled report in ....
most if not all LEO types feel that everyone who isn't wearing a uniform is an uncaught crook; to their minds interfering with your right to counsel, meds, medical help, and paperwork is just making sure the lazy court system doesn't let all the crooks go.
it's fucked up, but my dad was a Texas Department of Corrections guard for 16 years. he's irretrievably fucked up from it too...he thinks just like i was talking about in the paragraph above. he claims he can tell from the way they walk if someone has been in the pen....and judges them from that viewpoint no matter what.
THEY think the system is too SOFT on drug users and that any change in the laws and perceptions must be fought by any means possible, legal or not...just like anyone else, they blow off the legal details when they KNOW what is right, by god and country!

he used to know better; he had friends that got high when he was in college. they were my friends later on as well to get high with - but he has a very odd reaction to weed ( my dad that is )...he passes out for like 24 hours and is hostile in his passed out state. considering he is over 240 when he's skinny, he's not someone you try to get to try it twice.
on that basis, he decided that what wasn't for him wasn't for ANYBODY.

I have a 12 year pet dog, who has a pretty sweet life, but for all intents & purposes is held captive. If he would get me high, just once, that'd be great! But he's stingy, the ungrateful mutt. If you love and care for an animal and that animal happens to get you high too then cool. Unless your against the idea of pets completely I don't see the problem.
