thats not a funny thing to joke about as alot of my buddies went down that path and destroyed their families. You will feel alive until your dead.
marine infantry still uses the m-16's, they suck for the type of battles we are fighting now. Army infantry uses m4's, a carbine version of the m16. its alot shorter and lighter. anyways, im going to bed but ill check this thread when i wake up.

There are some good shit that have been said in this thread. It makes me miss being in the Marines honestly lol. PreparationH I respect you and your decision to join. Most people I would say to stay away, but If you really are this serious then I hope your military career is a good safe one man. Do yourself a favor and make sure you are clean for a few months before going in. I passed the drug tests but I went through horrible withdraw from nicotine, caffeine and even weed. Before you go in just stop everything and live a drug free life as long as you can before going in so you are use to it. I thought I was going to be fine because I was clean, but after awhile it was just weird being that super sober and alert honestly. I got sick and puked and everything from it. Don't screw this up man, get clean and KNOW you are clean.
I wouldn't go back in myself , but your enthusiasm is kind of infectious and it's bringing me back to when I was on a mission to become a Marine. Good luck bro.

The army still uses the M-16 but when I was in the light/fast response infantry / recon all got the M4's.
I was air assault (helicopter air cav death from above  )
Most of us had M4 , I had a M203 grenade launcher. Also some M249AR in the mix.
Your standard infantry squad consist of a Team leader a grenadier
an automatic rifleman and a rifleman.
You will learn many life skills and how to handle stress. The main problem I had getting out was some ptsd and just boredom . Couldn't work in an office or anything or even set still in school. So i chose EMT for my career after the army ( got hurt in 04 repelling and fucked my knee). Good luck and keep your head down

Just a port we hit on float. We were only there for about 3 days iirc.
It was very nice as a matter of fact. That had this big brick-paved pavilion with Arabs selling all kinds of shit; food, electronics, t-shirts, video games... and this is all right there at the docks as soon as you get off the ship.
There was a stage set-up and a concert held every night that we were there.
Oh, and lest I forget... there were also camel rides!
