Dutch man reports theft of Ecstasy pill collection
AMSTERDAM – A man who said he spent two decades collecting Ecstasy pills of all colors and shapes as a hobby has turned to police for help after they were stolen — because he said some of them are poisonous.
Police say the 46-year-old man, who was not identified, decided to report the theft despite the illegal nature of the collection because he was worried about the possible consequences if anybody were to swallow one of the poisoned pills.
It was not immediately clear why about 40 red-and-white pills out of the 2,400-pill-strong collection would be poisoned, but the police said they fear the drugs could be lethal if swallowed.
"That's really the main reason he came to the police," said police spokeswoman Esther Naber, adding the man "knows he's not going to get his collection back."
A report in De Volkskrant daily Thursday said the man claimed he was not a drug dealer or user.
"I've tried it before but didn't like it," the report quoted him saying. "My passion for collecting comes from the varied collection of colors, shapes and logos that are printed on the pills."
According to a police statement, the man gathered the pills over a 20 year period and carefully stored them in coin collecting folders.
The folders were allegedly taken during a break-in Wednesday at the man's home in Eerbeek, 56 miles (90 kilometers) east of Amsterdam.
Police spokesman Naber said investigators tended to believe the man's story.
"Why would you make something like this up?" she said.
Prosecutors and drug enforcement officials are still weighing whether to charge him with a crime.
"Given that the pills have disappeared, for the moment there's no evidence to support a possession charge," Naber said.
The pills' street value is estimated at euro11,000 ($16,200).

i know some mitsubishis from like 10yrs ago had pma in them but they were white. and i believe someone could view them as art like he did just as mark mccloud did with lsd blotter.

now hes possibly going to face both posession wit intent charges and possibly just identified himself to police as the source of a possible future death (second deg murder in some countries)...
not the smartest decision but he had the right heart reporting it...
what sucks is his honesty and concern for saving lives may be rewarded with life in prison. what a world we live in.

PMA is a hallucinogen isn't it? What's the LD50?
I don't doubt that he was collecting them because he viewed them as art or he wouldn't have had gone as far as to collect $16,200 worth of them but I think it's bullshit that he had tried it and didn't like it. It just sounds like something he'd say to get the cops off his ass for having them.

Hey, as much as most people enjoy MDMA, you can't discredit the ones who don't enjoy it. Different strokes for different folks, ya know? I know of at least 3 close friends who didn't care for the effects of it. One of them only smokes marijuana (he doesn't smoke cigars, cigarettes, or drink). He didn't enjoy the uneasiness and "waves." The other two were new to it, but didn't particularly care for the effects. These folks also happen to be the same ones that eat 7g of mushrooms and function as if they were sober.

in actuality i think it makes more sense since he soley viewed them as art and was more concerned about peoples welfare then anything. he really had nothing to lose besides all those beans by not informing the cops.

This is the Netherlands, not some police state we're talking about. Yes, this man will be punished, but no, I think the chances of him being charged with an attempt at manslaughter are next to zero. He might not even be charged with 'intent', although I'm not too certain about that. His story does sound credible though, and I think the average Dutch judge will be somewhat sensitive to it.

Call me crazy but I love PMA! Pure PMA of course, measured doses.
The problem with PMA is overheating, it gets your body temperature through the roof, it can get a little uncomfortable.
Another problem is that the dosage range from 'safe' to fatal isn't much.
Fuck PMA though, it's too risky. If you get it pressed in pills and decide to take 2 or 3 pills thinking it's MDMA the chances of you dying are pretty high depending on how many mg per pill.
As for this topic, damn that sucks! I don't believe for one second that the guy didn't like rolling though. Still sucks but at least he went to the cops and warned them. He knows hes not getting his collection back anyways.
Edit : It's a psychedelic/stimulant. It's in the amphetamine family, para methoxymethamphetamine or para methoxyamphetamine.

I would have loved to thumb through that collection. The variety, style, and contents of illicitly produced pills is pretty mind boggling.
