 Do people ever tell you that you're weird?

So I hear this often from people and it's usually at work. Sometimes they tell me straight to my face, "Oh my god you're so weird". Sometimes I hear it behind my back, "He's such a weirdo".
What's funny is that I don't even know why people think that way about me. I'm usually fairly quiet and introspective when I'm around people. I suppose I do act a bit eccentric when I do happen to find myself in social interaction. I have a few good friends who at least sort of understand me and that's all I really need.
If anything I'm disappointed in people for being so judgemental to somebody just because they aren't acting according to consensus...I mean, who really WANTS to be normal? I don't.
Are there any other "weirdos" out there?

Me.
I don't really care until they start saying I'm a weirdo in a "monster" way, but that doesn't happen very often anymore. It did hurt when it used to happen.

I am weird. Everyone who knows me says so. I don't mind. Im not being offended or anything. Its just the way I am and I don't feel like changing anything about it. It actually helped me to find real love so basically being weird/different is probably better than to fit into the stereotype of a normal being. Sometimes I feel socially inept in certain situations but fuck that!

LOL as far back as I can remember, I can't recall a time where people WEREN'T calling me weird!!
It seems to have died off in my old age though. Either that or they're just intimidated because I'm a big brown guy. Then I open my yap and they're like "yup, he's weird all right"

a lot of people don't know what to make of me, this happens more often when i am being introverted...
i cant remember anyone coming up to my face saying "you're weird" though.... im happy to not be the same as everyone else

well what is normal anyway? i mean. no one is really normal. i hear that im weird so much i just go along with it i mean the ones who call me weird are weird to me, but we all see things differently and act on certain situations differently so were all weird

Absolutely. I display eccentric mannerisms and in someways lead a particular lifestyle.
Its funny, say at work, where i am known for being weird - I look at how i contrast to the typical employee:

My mom raised me on the phrase "dare to be different" and it's always worked for me.

Everybody does it. I've never met anybody who didn't.

Yeah...I used to get it more when I was younger, just because of the way k-12 works; you know everyone (at least in my school), everyone knows you, people openly make fun of other people, etc. Now that I'm an adult I think people keep it to themselves more, or else I'm starting to fit in! lol
What really sucks about my weirdness is that the times when people comment on it, those are times that I feel most comfortable. It makes it hard to bond with people, yaknow, when people don't accept you. It makes it hard for me to fully be myself, which makes me slightly resentful and yadda yadda yadda, really I just need to accept it.
Now what's funny about my weirdness is I even recognize it after it's passed. I'll look back on something that I did and just think "wtf??" lol I seem to just be drawn in to the weirdness, I don't know what it is.

It is mostly jelousy, people fear what they cannot be, but hate it once they realize they will never be it.
I have a real hard time with this junk too - i think that I feel bad about it because you can never really seperate yourself from peoples emotions. It seems that it is an outcome of fucked up relationships that arose from christian times...if you havent noticed people are still little religious folk deep down, they mostly want their family, their fitting in, which I deem to be pureley of fear of hell.
I do not know how to handle it and I will work on it, but right now I am enjoying my solitariness(minus one good friend) I am pretty much an outcome of my crazy childhood mixed with some serious drug use and expansions and contractions of realities that are anything but close to being socially workable, trying to get out of this economic system and social nonesense ASAP. lol
Anyone want to join? haha, J/k or maybe, I do keep an open mind. Sorry if that sounds condecending or that I assume you guys like me, but yeah, lol question works and im sure you guys wouldnt mind living away from all nonesense...anyone else planning a life away from cities and social nom noms?

I am at a place in my life where I want to be close to the conveniences and social excitement of the city.
I went to rural PA for my granddad's funeral last weekend, out in the boonies, and I didn't have cell phone reception. That bugged me because I like to feel connected to humanity.
Of course I want to learn permaculture and live on a fruit farm one day. That is the ultimate goal and lifestyle that I crave. But right now...I feel like I need to be close to the city in order to develop the skills I need that will one day take me to that fruit farm. It's like I can 'see' my own progression and it means I must be in a populated area for awhile. Plus I love being social. I feel like I have to be close to people.
Right now I'm in the country, in a little town 20 miles south of Dallas. I love the country atmosphere but I'm thankful that the big city is pretty much right down the street.

I do not think having having cell contact is a good indicator of ones "connection with humanity." IMO
I am very anti-social, and if i could live in the sticks with a junkyard, a metal shop, animals, a garden and hopefully a partner and adopted children - that'd make me feel right at home. Less guilty about being an antisocial stick-in-the-mud.
However, i do hear you - i also want to live in a city and feel it is necessary in this state of my life (although i love it and hate it at the same time.)
I am hoping to pursue land ownership by my mid-30's ... Hopefully settling down in the country to pursue a life as a fulltime farmer by the mid to late 30's.

It's not in general but it was for me at that moment  I'm really attached to the thing...likely too attached. I feel more secure and enjoy knowing I can use my technology to reach out to anyone. I trip out on communication. The funny thing is that I don't like talking on the phone.

Ive been an 'odd duck' all of my life, and for a long time I let it make me feel like I Was actually Weird! What a crock' o' shit...

people always call me weird, and I punchem in the nose
i say "I say here, now why you gone and made me done that right there break your nose son?"
and then I slice half a circle on my arm and the other half of the circle on the persons forhead so they'll never call me weird again.
ask around, they'll know about me, they will.

People who call you weird are doing so because you're way more interesting and unique than them, and it scares them, so they rationalize their fear and jealousy by calling you weird.

Anyone who doesn't go out of their way to make friends with everyone, fit in perfectly, never offend anyone etc.. can be perceived as weird.
Completely be yourself and make no apologies for it. When you're confident and secure in yourself people will respect you and want to be around you. Don't stress over the opinions of the insecure people who are afraid to be different in any way.

A beautiful girl, with green eyes and blonde hair, that I liked and worked with, told me I was weird once. It made me a little sad. She was a stoner art student...how does a stoner art student call somebody weird? I figured those people were generally opened minded.
I have to think extra hard about what I'm going to say when I'm in social contact. I pause a lot during conversation because of this effort. Often times I'm hardly aware or in control of what I'm saying. I suppose this seems weird to people.
I can't talk about every day chatter type of stuff. I always want to talk science or philosophy or paranormal or whatnot.

i can be that way, talking about everyday stuff is pretty mundane
id rather analyze the motives of ufo's or the government's war on drugz then talk about how i am feeling or about famous people (i dont understand how people are so occupied with reading bullshit like US Weekly or Life  )...

People who don't know me all that well, call me weird.
However, all the people who have gotten to know me, generally accept my eccentricities as a by-product of who I am.
Without my weirdness, I would not be the same person. It's easier to accept idiosyncrasies when those are characteristics that attracts you to the person in the first place.

Oh yeah! I pick apart every situation I experience in life... as long as I can remember it.. hahahaha.
I usually do this when I'm sitting in my room at night or in the morning as soon as I wake up. Sometimes it's bad meditation, I try my best to keep it positive.

Sometimes I can't sleep at night because everything seems so absurd and funny. I think about, say, how we're on a giant sphere bound to orbit another even larger sphere...and this is happening right now. Haha sometimes I can't help it, the laughter just bubbles out.
I think sometimes this attitude comes out in public and people may say or thinK "you're weird". I just say "I know you are but what am I?"

Yeah I've been called weird since whenever.
It used to bother me, but now i've got a few years on me I'm complacent that i'm not hopelessly average, like the majority of those who feel (for some reason) that they're capable of passing judgement on me.

Yeah, that bugs me. -JUDGEMENT- Like anyone is capable of that.
I try to always keep my thoughts about others as an Open Book. Something that my mind jots things down in about people I know that is always building on what I have seen about them. I never fully arrive at a decision about my thoughts on another persons life. After all, it's Theirs.
I try to do the same with my thoughts about my own life. Never arrive at a decision about yourself or who you are because it's in a state of constant change.

I sometimes get called weird but it doesn't really bother me. Sometimes I act "weird" or say "weird" things but it's just my way of entertaining myself in an otherwise dull situation.

Nothing quite like a bunch of self-proclaimed weirdos. Everyone likes to think they're weird, or at least capable of spotting weird. Think about those empty husk fashionable types who try to get off on labeling things weird or labeling their own ridiculous eccentricities as being anything other than retarded..
Yeah, some of us are probably weird, who knows. Sometimes, I confuse myself.

I run barefoot through the snow and wear shorts in the winter. If I wear long pants I usually wear a dress shirt, tie and dress pants. One time people had a pants intervention and made me wear long pants because it was cold out, so I put on that and the tie and the whole deal. I have a small collection of canes to add to the formal dress wear.
I am considered weird by many, but the good weird, not the watch out he is going to kill you in your sleep weird.

thus i would be classed by the general population as a pretty wierd dude

I get called that all of the time and really it's become more of a compliment than an insult.
I also get called crazy a lot but that's probably true so I take it well too.
