Yeah definitely looks like Pedro. From what I can see, it looks like they've been treated pretty well.
I'd guess that they're probably Backberg clones (the more common "strain").

Here is another pic of the cutting that I want to plant. How long should I wait before planting the cutting?

Can you plant a middle-section cactus cutting and expect it to give new growth?

The San Pedro I've consumed has been pleasantly potent.
But even so, I would recommend at least 1', but I honestly think 1.3' would be ideal for a first experience.

8 inches should be a very mild experience, you want to use at least 12 inches of pc pedro.

Depends on your weather, I had no problems cutting it up and drying in front of a fan.

Once it has calloused and you are ready to plant,
remember that the spines point upwards at about a 45 degree angle.

and ignore the jive about laying it on its side.

Well, if he waits for it to callous, and keeps it in a warm bright place, he can root it and then plant it.

probably next to a sunny window. i don't take any cuttings after september. they stall and take forever to root. even with mild texas winters. 75f in december to cold for me.

Yup, just be careful about watering it in case it's dormant.

I am rooting several trichocereus cacti right now, I reccomend you put it in dry soil mix and get it under some kind of light, and keep the soil warm too... Fluorescent lights will help it root but the cactus will etiolate a bit... Not too bad if you don't water it.

I currently have some cactus cuttings (bridgesii 1' or more in length) putting out tap roots. So the best action to take is to put them in soil, don't water (to prevent further otiolation?) and leave them in a place to get sunlight?

I've rooted these 3 cuttings a week ago (Peruvianus, Bridgesii and PC), they are kept on my porch in a shady spot where they get light but not direct sun. The weather in Israel is pretty worm even in the winter we don't get much rain so I am not going to water them until April.

Well Dallas is somewhat south. I'm just worried about all my cacti etiolating over winter. How do I make them go dormant?

If you're in Israel and the weather is generally pretty warm all the time, I wouldn't even worry about over-watering all that much... I just heard from this forum recently that one should not water cacti until they have formed roots... But I'm in Southern California and I have NEVER worried about this... I always just plant cuttings and start watering them usually the next day and I've NEVER had one rot on me.... This is including over 30 columnar cacti....

What does pc mean? I have a San Pedro and I just re-potted it a few days ago. I have not watered it since I got it about 4 to 6 (can't quite remember how many) weeks ago. Sorry I don't have a picture but I heard it is potent from the person I got the rooted cutting from. Is there anyway someone could help me identify one variety from another if this really applies to Pedro? The only camera I have is a shitty little 5 megapixel webcam that always shows up blurry.

See if you have any friends who have better digital cameras that you could borrow. If they're really friends they'll understand letting you borrow the camera to take a simple picture, or at least take the photo for you.
As long as you're reasonable with them of course.

I like the second one with the (how long?) foot long spikes. (not sure if this is allowed to be discussed but...) Is there a wide or narrow range of alkaloid content for San Pedro?

Can a cutting be stressed to increase its mescaline potency? Or is it too late to increase potency after the cactus has been cut from it's parent?

Just put them in an area they will get full sun in, or at least 6-8 hours (in my experience), and the etiolation will work itself out, your location is great for growing cacti.
Also you can take the etiolated parts and cut them off, then root them and they will grow into normal size cacti given they get enough light.
Check out this link, scroll down to etiolation.
http://cactiguide.com/cactipests/#environmental
I live in the south but it gets cold here in the winter (15-20degrees), I move my cacti indoors under fluorescent lighting, the pups that are produced indoors are not that much smaller than the ones produced outside in full sunlight.
Cut the etiolated part off the pup, right were it has begun to be etiolated, then place the cactus in full sun and it will produce more pups of normal size.

lol... I have posted that link a ton of times... It is merely to a page showing the Log Growing of San Pedro... Sure, that site sells San Pedro, but I am saying "Hey go buy San Pedro there!" ... I've posted it a few times and no one has complained yet.... We're not allowed to post educational articles? Aren't we here to learn?

I'm not criticizing people for trying to learn. I just agreed that you shouldn't post a link to non-vender sites. I understand that you didn't link to the specific part of his site that advertises his cacti, but there are plenty of "educational articles" that aren't on sites that sell cacti.
MycOhunter and I arn't trying to be dicks, were just telling you the rules. get over it.

Well, thank you then felixhigh, as I said, when a mod chimes in, I will gladly respect and heed.... I just think too many people on here care more about feeling superior over another member and pointing out the rules in that manner than they do about the rules themselves. I think too many people on here equate how many posts you have to your general intelligence as well.

themallacht said: Ok, regardless... Like I said... I've posted that link a TON of times, and not once have I been told by a mod that it's against the rules... The specific link that I posted is, as I said before, for an EDUCATIONAL ARTICLE... It's not even linking to the part of the site where they sell anything at all.... People are such little children on here. Worry about yourselves... Are you here to learn or here to criticize others who are trying to learn?
Situations like this have happened before, in this case members should copy and paste the educational information rather than linking to commercial sites.
I'll give you a little time for you to fit in the rules before taking further measures.

I wasn't trying to act superior to anyone, just trying to help you out, also trying help this community out, that's all.
I got a warning from the doc for posting that exact page, that is why I chimed in and said what I said, this site is about community correct?

Ok, so dosed a shot of cactus filtered snot tea at a friends house. That happened at 2:00 pm I had the peak at around 4:50 - 5:50 where I was caught in the flow of the clouds and by 7:00 pm I still had visual wall distortions and light vibrations and couldn't stop laughing. From 8 pm -9 pm I still felt excited like I was rolling. I also noticed minor hallucinations in the street lights. Now its 11:20 pm and I just saw a mother and child figure enraptrued in wood grain crazzy shit... What mescaline dosage does this most closely resemble?
Ive never understood the power and magic of mescalito until now.

Sounds like it could of been anywhere from 1'-1.5'. Did you not measure out the dose?
And did you just de-juice the cactus, and not preform any form of extraction?
