I step out of back splash range and aim for the water with intent to whip up a good foamy head of piss froth. Except for when I'm so loaded that I have to lean on the wall over the toilet. Then, I aim for the porcelain.

Porcelain usually, but I get creative sometimes.
Sometimes I get a stream going, and step back farther/aim higher and see what kind of distance I can get before moving back to the toilet.

I always try to hit the piss stream on the SIDE WALL above the water level below the rim. It's usually a very small spot - pretty hard to hit. I like a challenge
