bulk substrate preparation

Question Summary: LC-->Rye Berry Jars-->Rye Berry Bags-->Horse Manure
What do I colonize the manure in after adding the rye berry spawn? Bags? Tubs?
---------------------------
I have been preparing my horse poo, vermiculite and WBS substrate mix using bags and then sterilizing in my pressure cooker. This is starting to become too tedious and I am trying to figure out how to make more bags in less time.
Right now I am thinking that I will rent an electric shredder and a concrete mixer to prepare maybe 100 or 200 bags. I am trying to gain access to an autoclave so I could then sterilize all of them in one or two batches. Do you think this will work? The posts that I have found about bulk prep all use pasteurization instead of sterilization, but I don't know how much that matters.
Also, do you have any suggestions on how to inoculate that much substrate? That would take quite a few of my quart LC jars. Should I get bigger jars or consider switching to grain inoculation?
Thanks for your help.

Sterilization will kill nutrients and micro-organisms in the substrate that make it the good/nutritious fruiting substrate you prepared.
Pasteurization leaves the beneficial microbes that aid in contam resistance.
as for mass inoculation...G2G from a grain master but I found this 4 ya, just some FYI.

Ok thanks for the advice. I think I've got a plan now. I am going to sterilize some rye berry jars and inoculate them with LC. I will use the jars to create rye berry spawn bags. The spawn bags will knock up my substrate bags. I plan on pasteurizing my hp/verm substrate in a propane turkey fryer before bagging and adding the spawn. Then I will case the bags in those black horticulture trays.
Will this work?

why do so many bags? why so much work. for maybe a below par BE
if you know your LC is good, and you have a PC, make a couple grain master jars. knock em up.
then G2G
use those to spawn to a few 4lb.+ bags of grain, then each bag can be used individually per monotub.
maybe do like 5 monos. and get a better yield than 200 bags...
or JUICE some fat grain bags with your LC. a full 12cc syringe seems about the right amount for 5lb bags

I think you guys are missing the point. I am going to have an 8x12 foot room full of racks. Monotubs are nice but I dont want to stack the room full of 20 tubs. I need to figure out how to colonize 400 quarts of substrate.
I already said that I'm going to use rye berries as my spawn. I just need to figure out what to colonize in. My thought was that breaking the 400 quarts into 100 bags would lead to faster colonization and I wouldn't have to throw out but 4 quarts if a bag gets contaminated.
Does anyone have experience colonizing the quantities of substrate that I am talking about?

yeah, youll be ok
and you didnt state a point originally
but really...5 good monos, not 20 is going to fruit HEAVY brah
so youre going to spawn all your bags into trays once theyre colonized

I just don't understand why 5 monos would produce more. Typically what maybe 2 or 4 bags go in a mono. I want to have like 50 trays made from 2 bags each. How would 5 monotubs using a maximum of 20 bags compete with that?

Because rye berries don't have the moisture or the nutrients that a bulk sub does. I think . Trust me you will be happy with tubs. If you want to do tons, than just do like 10 tubs, I can't see anyone needing that much but do what you do. Colonizing 100 bags is going to be quite the bitch, not to mention you're talking about borrowing these things, you'll want to do it again I would think so why don't you just do a couple bags at a time in a PC and just use one bag per tub and make up 10 tubs. That way you can do this over and over again. I have seen many, many people very happy with the results from monotubs and lot's of people not so happy with the results of fruiting in bags.
edit- CCV+G is a great substrate (Coir, Coffee, and Vermiculite + Gypsum)

It does.
If you're going for that kind of bulk, you should consider switching to straw logs.
You can pasteurize large quantities of bulk at a time in a garbage can.
You could add horse poo to straw logs. I've seen some really cool straw log setups. Seems the best use of space.

Rye berry is not my substrate, it is my spawn. I am spawning to HP.
Also, I'm not fruiting in bags. I am colonizing in bags. Bags go in trays. Trays go in my room size fruiting chamber. I'm sure tubs work just fine, but not on the scale I am talking about.
My guess is that a typical monotub has the same surface area as one of my horticulture trays. My tray might be slightly more shallow, but who cares, I will have 50 of them. I could never fit all the substrate I am talking about into 5 or even 10 tubs.
Why would I downgrade from my GH (check sig) to tubs? I am looking to expand.

Well, looks like you have a plan already and are just looking for suggestions on pasteurizing large quantities of hpoo at a time.
I think your options are:
Trashcan full of hpoo with hot water added.
Hot-tub full of hpoo maybe? with 5000 watt bucket heaters to boost the temp!
 Or one of these?

check for a bulk steamer pasteurizer tek made by akita. He was pasteurizing tons of bulk substrate simultaneously. I would find it, but my carpet is breathing haha

I'm sorry man, I wasn't really paying attention earlier. Anyway, you seem to have your shit together and as Anonjon said you should find a good way to bulk pasteurize, and the tek by akita is very good. Please let us know how this grow does when it's starts producing. I love to see rooms filled with mushrooms. YUM!

yeah but not all at once, I start a cycle that doesnt stop, its just repetitive: g2g from grain master - bags - trays - fruits - if needed new spores for LC - grain master - g2g - etc...
it acomplishes the same thing just not so heavy of a load all at once.
yeah for that much trays and shelves for surface area is best for a shit ton of mushies.
get a cycle going or find/hire a buddy to help

Yeah probably not, but he'll figure it out quickly when he is out in the back yard with a shovel and a cement mixer full of horse shit. . Anyways, I checked out that tek from Akira. Looks like I'm going to have to build a steam pasteurizer.
I'm going to buy the bags he recommends in his tek because there is no reason for me to pay so much for those filter patches if I'm colonizing the manure with spawn in the tray and not in the bag. I'm starting to get a little excited. Looks like this might work.
Anyone know the approximate weight of a quart of HP substrate? I've been doing all my figuring in quarts because I don't have a scale, but everyone talks about bulk in pounds.

its hard to do weight by pounds cuz it depends on moisture content thats why you should go by volume.
instead of quarts bump it up to cubic feet.
