I'll toss in 5 bucks if everyone else chips in. I'm already looking for jobs for him since he is limited on internet.
Lets get this guy back on his feet. Show this noobie what the Shroomery is capable of.

Been there, done that,..not fun. What I did was squat. I was in southern ca so there were many vacant homes. I'd steal my food from major stores like ralphs or albertsons. I eventually got out of it by applying for jobs while having my suitcase full of clothes at the place i was squatting at. Made enough money to move in somewhere. Goodluck with your adventures.

It sucks that not everything is working out as good as you would like, but atleast you tried. Cali is a tough place, lots of workforce competition. I am sure things will start looking up for you soon! I would probably move out there even knowing id end up on the streets. It's beautiful outside anyways ;p

only advice you'll ever need: - find yerself a shelter first and foremost
- start looking fora job ASAP
- keep your money in the bank
- don't spend a dime while you're there
- and start looking fora roommate the second you get your first check
it'll all come together in the end

I sent him a list of jobs where he is at. It is up to him if he applies. All gave the applicant a chance to come in for interviews.

i recall watching some documentary showing panhandlers making around $100 a day. Definitely must take a toll on your pride, but hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Think of some clever tactics and please please please don't resort to robbing innocent people. racking a few items from the local stores/gas station won't hurt business much IMO.
I went to a dunkin donuts on two occasions and asked if I can have the donuts that were gonna get tossed. The guy working there at 2am told me to wait out back and "WOW!"..a minute later i'm walking down the street 5 minutes later with my buddy carrying a LARGE trashbag full of donuts, eating and whipping them on doorsteps for the neighbors!
I split them the next day with a few friends and it lasted for days.
Good luck man. Let us know if things start turning brighter(which it will in given time)

I knew a homeless dude who regularly made about 50-80 bucks a day just flying a sign with some witty message on it. That's not bad for standing on a street corner. My pride would never let me do that though. Even when I was homeless for months I couldn't bring myself to spanging. I did busk a few times playing guitar and that was always rewarding though, make some money and give people some entertainment, its good stuff.

many homeless people can get their hands on some decent cash, but it usually goes back into smack or booze. it's a concrete jungle out there. don't let your head escape you!! good luck once again

yeah...I resorted to beggin for change a time or two when I absolutely *had to*
but much like you - I also managed to give people something in exchange
oh yeah: and the person that mentioned panhandling for table scraps at the end of the day was fuckin right on with that one as well

damn bro ive been there and it sucks. have you applied for a GR check? in many cases you will recieve funds within an hour and food assistance. unless things have changed. back in the day when everyone flocked to LA with hopes of stardom or getting a record deal many ended up with a GR card. if nothing else it will get you out of there. you may already have one if not get to the GR office immediatly you may even be able to recieve a voucher for a motel for a week maybe two.

Beats living on the streets.
Every now and then, go into the city and busk (or panhandle if you got no skills)... rinse/repeat till you get a job or figure out life

Search some threads and convince yourself being homeless is good.
You don't have to fit into society's rules. No obligations.
You may be homeless, but damn it, you're FREE! No expectations, no one to answer to. Freedom is beautiful.

Central air and falling asleep on the couch at 3 in the afternoon is beautiful too.
