Did the Jets really just beat the Pats?

Not to mention, completely dominate Brady and the offense?

You watched the game last Monday, right? The Patriots obviously aren't anything special and Tom Brady isn't the same. I'll cover my ass by saying "At least not yet." Who knows what will happen in a few weeks from now.

The Jets offense has a LOT of work to do although Sanchez's arm was looking great in the second half.

Oh here we go, everyone is trying to minimize the Jets' win.
The Jets Defense hasn't given up a touchdown all season, they shut out the number 3 (according to ESPN's power rankings) team in the league during the second half. The Texans, who went on to score 34 points against the Titans this week couldn't get an offensive point against the Jets last week.
Sanchez had a 101.1 passer rating in only his second start. He isn't going to look like Drew Brees and throw three or more touchdowns every game and he had his problems early in the first half. But he still far out performed Brady in this game, and thats saying something.
Sanchez will continue to improve as he matures and the Jets Defense will get even better once Calvin Pace comes off of suspension.
You have to install the Jets as the favorite to win the AFC east now.

I like how someone complaining of something minimized then turns around and uses "all season" to describe two games.

okay, fair enough.
The Jets defense has yet to give up a touchdown.
Still can't be said about any other team (I don't think)

I'm a Jets fan but that's totally hyperbolic. It'd make more sense to install the Giants as favorites to win the NFC East now because they are 2-0 against their own division already, the Jets are 1-0 against their own division even if they're 2-0 in general.

I think the Giants are the favorite to win the NFC East, and have been since the end of last year.
Favorites doesn't mean that they are going to, it just means if you put a gun to my head and told me I had to pick a team and if I was wrong I was dead. I'd have to, right now, go with the Jets. That might change in a few weeks, it might even change next week. But right now, who else would you bet on?
The Pats who looked bad in their two games and lost to the Jets?
The Bills who haven't finished above 9-7 this decade, and lost to the Pats?
Or the Dolphins who couldn't score a touchdown until the fourth quarter last week?
I agree its to early to tell, but sports predictions are just that, predictions. Just as sports reporters make their predictions for who is going to win the superbowl before training camp even begins, this is simply an early prediction.

This is an argument over what team is more mediocre. Ive been just as impressed, if not more impressed, with the play of the Bills than any other team in that division. Trent Edwards has been playing smart football, the defense has been great, OH and Marshawn Lynch will be back after this week
No doubt the Jets are off to a great start. But I want to see how they hold up after Week 4. After they have played Tennessee and the Saints
As much as I hate the Patriots I got to pick them to win that division still. It's only a matter of time before Brady, Moss and the 10 other veteran WR's they have start scoring TD's

Think Marshawn Lynch will get his job back though? He really isn't that fucking good. I've seen clips of articles that suggest he may not. I didn't see the Bills on Sunday though so I don't know how Fred Jackson looked.

He will certainly be the starter. He's Marshawn Lynch
Fred Jackson has been a solid #2 guy for the past couple seasons but he isnt the power back that Lynch is. Im sure they will split some of the carries but Lynch will get a majority of the touches

lynch will be heavily involved. freddy will get his share of touches though. he is like a brian westbrook type rb. lynch however will just run over dudes straight up and can out juke them. jets rbs arent better than either of the buffalo rbs. you played the pats @ home and only beat them by a td. try playing them at NE and see how they do before anointing them the cream of the division. you still only managed 16 points. ryan is a pretty good coach thus far i have to admit, but lets wait until there are a few more division games to determine the best team.

Yeah, the Jets do look strong. What a difference a coach can make man. The halftime adjustment he made on Sunday was very telling. In the first half, Sanchez wasn't allowed to make a throw but in the third quarter, he picked apart Bellichek's defense like a veteran. The only thing the offense lacks is a big receiver and a blocking tight end. They got everything else and the case can be made that their starting tight-end Kellens is a big receiver. But the main position is quarterback and they are solid.
Defensively, its like night and day compared to last year and the whole Mangini regime. Blitzing never happens with Mangini. He is stubborn on it. Now, with Bart Scott and Larry Izzo and Chris Jenkins and Ellis and soon Pace defending the line and then Revis and Shephard on the corners and decent safeties, its a solid defense and blitzing is done at a much higher degree.
Its that reason Brady lost. Brady could never stand to get hit. Its how the Giants beat them in the Super Bowl and its how the Jets beat them on Sunday. Now that the secret is out, NE might be done, as long as they are playing strong defenses.
So yeah, I like the Jets to win the division. Buffalo lacs leadership, Miami is 0-2 already and the Jets will likely sweep New England.

I'd say at least one safety (Kerry Rhodes) is way better than decent.

I did not think the Jets defense got that good that quickly, but clearly i haven't been paying enough attention.
It's funny how within the past couple years you have more and more QB's prospering in their rookie year. Could this be a growing trend?

You are 100% right. He's been the best player on the team for at least two years. I also think Revis is even better. He shut down two premier receivers in the first two weeks.

Revis is definitely becoming one of the elite lock down defenders in the league (if he's not there already).

From a quality player perspective, the Jets have been very smart over the past few years. They seem to be attracted to intelligent people with a certain calmness of character. Last year, they felt they could really make a move if they had a quarterback. That's why they brought in Favre, and until he tore his bicep, the Jets were really on their way. They just believed they had no option at quarterback, even thinking Favre with his arm ripped in half would be better than the 2nd and 3rd string options.
Also, Mangini is a tool. Watch what he does with Cleveland. Its the same thing he did in NY. Stand there for 3 hours on Sunday with your arms crossed and chew about 3 packs of gum. He has no personality and doesn't instill any inspiration or motivation or belief in the team. He coaches scared.
But the GM has been doing very good work. He recognized he shortcomings with Mangini and brought in Ryan. Ryan believes in himself enough to believe in the team. Suddenly, what was a meloncholy atmosphere around the locker room or at practice is now somebody actually taking an active role in how to best utilize the players on his team. Of course he has brought some guys in as well to fill weaknesses.
The thing that impresses me most about the Jets so far this season is the intelligence of GM Mike Tanembaum to value intelligence in the people he surrounds himself with. From a player level, all the way up, one thing you have to hand this Jets team is that they are smart.
