Do you ever think to yourself... 'what am I doing?' or 'I can't believe I can take myself seriously."
This isn't meant as an insult, I'm just curious if you guys can actually live with yourselves.
I mean sometimes when I lie to someone a little voice plays in my head that says 'why did you say that?'
Does this happen for you guys?
Oh and why are you guys so into body hair?
And Alex Grey and Schpongle?
This is just like when I went through my gothpunk phase when I was a teenager.

I really mean no harm. Just trying to understand hippies. I used to date one, but I can't ask him because we don't talk anymore after he decided it would be cool to fingerbang his massage therapy clients.

Oh. You're wondering what gets people interested in a hippie phase? Curiosity? Sub-culture? For many people it's not a 'phase' It's just how they are perceived by other people to be a 'hippie'.
It's just word.

You're putting a lot of people in the a category. You're assuming a lot of things that are not necessarily true. Your gothpunk thing was a phase, you are probably currently in some kind of other 'phase', but you just don't realize it. 
Hippie, gothpunk, beatnik, fabulous gayfag, whatever. Each one is culture, and each one can live with himself because it's a small representation of their personalities.... just like yours.

Is that what defines hippydom to you?
I dunno about others, but...... I shower at least once a day, I wear at least decent clothes that are not falling apart. My hair is only 1/2 inch long. I work. And I drive a car.
Yet, I smoke weed. I DO like shpongle (Simon Posford is possibly the best producer of all time). And Alex Grey's work is not bad, Especially since he does tools stuff.
so, what is wrong here?

I like to get in tune with a bunch of different subcultures.
That way I'm cool to everyone, making me the coolest guy on the planet.
I shower and have very little hair, but I also have taken up listening to Phish and having dirty feet.
