Bands you wish you could have seen live

Stolen from what.cd because their forums aren't very active. What bands do you wish you could have seen live. Bands that are still active count if you wish you could have seen them from a different period. For example I would like to have seen Modest Mouse right after Lonesome Crowded West came out. The rest of my list is: Hendrix Miles Davis John Coltrane Operation Ivy Bad Brains At the Drive-In (this seemed to be the most popular answer at what.cd but I don't expect it to be here) Phish in the 90s Majority Rule (err, again...) Queen Gorilla Biscuits PFunk with Eddie Hazel The Who when they were all alive and young Gorilla Biscuits Black Flag Wu-Tang Clan right after 36 Chambers came out Sam Cooke The show CunninLynguists did in NYC with a live band (A Piece of Strange cover to cover) Weather Report

You can still see Herbie.
I couldn't believe how infrequently Pantera was mentioned in the other thread. Guess they don't like metal over there.

you heard wrong. Syd's talent operates on a whole higher level. Piper at the Gates of Dawn is in a whole different league from other Pink Floyd (though live @ pompeii and Meddle are great), also he has some solo stuff that is great as well. It's not for everybody, I guess, but to me it's easily some of the best stuff out there

Really, no Sublime or Nirvana yet?
I was lucky enough to see Pantera at Ozzfest 2 years before Dimebag was shot. That was the only pit where I got my ass kicked by butch dykes with bull-ring style septum piercings.

Aren't they still around? I saw them a few years ago. (EDIT: Ok, so they're on indefinite haitus, but I doubt it's the end of the band)
There are some bands I wish I could've seen in their heyday. I saw Smashing Pumpkins after their reunion, but I would've liked to have seen them circa 1996.

Iggy and the Stooges are so underrated, and the fact Iggy Pop is completely insane would've made an awesome show.

Now we have fucking Nickelback. They just don't make em like they used to.

My point is Iggy STILL makes an awesome show. From what I saw, and have seen on videos, I doubt it would really matter if you saw him now or 30 years ago. Just fucking go see the guy and have an amazing time.

I think Kraftwerk played here in Italy not long ago, but I'm not 100% sure.
Of course Pink Floyd is the first band that comes to my mind.
and yeah Iggy would still deserve to be seen live if he still plays, I didn't know he does.

I'd say Sabbath Bloody Sabbath cause by then all the greats would have been out, I mean I like the last two albums too but nothing can compare to their predecessors.

I heard Syd was only in 1 album and that's when floyd sucked..
Many (me) think it's one of their best albums
I'd only wanna see floyd in late 66, when they were their most psychedelic, that would be amazing.
Next comes Led Zeppelin around '71, and Hendrix a month or two before he died, when he was at his best.

If I was at this show:
I think I would have to kill myself simply because I would never see something as good as that again.
My head would explode if I was here:
Also to those who said the Beatles.. why? They weren't much of a live band - although I'd love to hang out with 'em

oh man, this is an awesome thread topic. i can't believe i missed it. too bad i don't feel like going back and reading all the posts. it's always hard for me to think of shit on the spot like this, but let's see..
archers of loaf guided by voices failure early modest mouse guthrie, dylan, donovan hendrix elliott smith velvet underground iggy pop (like '75-'80ish) neutral milk hotel
probably a lot more, but that's all my wracked brain can think of for now.
oh fuck, and i'd totally say pavement (particularly around/before 95), but they're actually doing a reunion tour next year. and you'd bet yer fuckin ass i'll go to at least one show.

i see your point. i guess i'm just enough of a sabbath purist i'd want to see them at their dopest. maybe a bit before their coke problem got too out of hand. seeing them play a set list of freshly written master of reality jams with into the void and sweet leaf would make me life complete.
and rat salad. is there a band called rat salad yet? dope name.

it's even worse than metallica without cliff burton.
zakk isn't trying to be dime vr.2, he's just filling in. phil is a big part of pantera, without whom the band would fall apart permanently.
