the only people still following that thread are the retards who are keeping it going solely because it's gone on for so long already...kinda like how that 'answer a question witha question' thread still to this day surfaces from time to time just because some random jackass wants to say that they were directly responsible to continuously contributing to the longest running thread in shroomerite history (or some crap)

in your "threads", click on the little folder to the left of the thread, and it will ask if you want to hide the thread.
If you want to see it later, at the bottom left of the page there is an "extra information" section, where you can un-hide threads.
I wish i didn't have to figure this out the hard way. There are all kinds of little quirks, like clicking a user's online/offline status sends them a PM

I doubt you're Ythan, because Ythan has made several posts showing his Username in this forum. Perhaps that is a lot of trouble and you can't be assed out to go through that trouble, but it is possible.
