I want to steal someone's laptop, guys!

The problem isn't that I won't be able to do, but that it might not be worth it. For example, what if I steal a laptop right off of their lap, but then I get home, and it's fucking password protected!
Or what if I steal the laptop, but since my rushing adrenaline had me on one, I forget to get the charger? Also, what if the person I stole it from sees me again? I'm planning to shave afterwords just to make it a little bit easier for me.
I'm not paying $1K for a laptop, that money could be used on dr00gz!

Don't forget that lots of computers these days come with LoJack for Laptops. I have it and so does my dad and brother. It survives a complete reformat and their recovery rate is around 75%. So I encourage you to go through with your plan and hopefully you'll end up behind bars where you belong.

$200 is still a shitload of drugs that I could be using.
I'm not stealing so I can buy drugs, idiot, I'm stealing so I don't have to waste my drug money.
How do I make all drug users look bad?

Check out the LoJack website, this is pretty gay.
Quote:
Computrace® LoJack® for Laptops by Absolute® Software is a software-based theft recovery service. It tracks, locates, and recovers stolen computers while providing you with the ability to protect your personal information from identity theft. Product features include:
Theft Recovery Services Remote Data Delete Service Guarantee Premium Edition Buy Now Standard Edition Buy Now
Theft Recovery In the event of theft, contact us. The next time your computer connects to the internet, the Absolute Theft Recovery Team will forensically mine it to determine who has your computer. Then we will work closely with local law enforcement to recover and return your property to you.
Remote Data Delete If your computer is lost or stolen, our Data Delete service can be used to remotely delete all of your personal and sensitive files from the hard drive. Everything an identity thief would need to steal your identity.
$1000 Service Guarantee If we are unable to recover your stolen computer or complete the Data Delete service, you could be eligible for a Service Guarantee payment of up to $1000. Conditions apply so please read our service agreement.
, now my only option is to steal from a poor person!

Wow, if you can't even get passwords you should really just buy a laptop because you are going to get yourself in jail. If I ever jacked a laptop I would at least first figure out how to get around crap like lo jack or whatever.
Either way, don't steal, karma says you will steal a pedo's computer, which the Feds will find all your now kiddie porn, land you in jail only to be raped by the guy you stole it from.

to the OP
i also want to steal a laptop but it has to be planned perfectly.
the best time to do it would be when you were going out of state. it's simply not worth it to take a chance of getting caught and do you think that the person is going to go out of state to get their laptop? probably not.
make sure that the person you steal it from doesnt know you've seen the laptop. maybe you can go to a friends campus and stalk there and maybe go in some dorms if you have a friend to help.

The LoJack website says it tracks you don't using your IP address, but I only use random people's Wi-Fi and internet cafe's, so it's not like they're gonna find me!
Still, I don't know how to get around passwords. And I wouldn't mind that kiddie pr0n!

Unless you steal a laptop from the biggest pushover in the world, the person you take it from will no doubt get police involved and be working pretty hard to figure out who took it.

I live close to a pretty rich neighborhood full of high school kids who carry their little gadgets around like it's nobody's business. I won't have many problems finding a suitable victim.
There won't be a trail, cops take at least 5 minutes to respond, by that time I'll already be inside my house!

My laptop was stolen from my apartment in May. It was the center of my music workstation. Although the majority of my files were backed up to external hard drives which thankfully were not taken, I lost hours and hours and HOURS of work, irreplaceable data. Stuff I can't get back, music I had created, my one major passion in life. Do you really want to be such a selfish scum with zero regard for other people's lives and work? If the answer is yes, I hope you get hit by a bus soon.

I seriously doubt that some Chinese 10th grader is going to have hours of serious work saved on his laptop. All that's going be there is saved homework files, which I don't give a shit about.

This is why you don't fucking use laptops as a workstation, they are merely for convenient entertainment. Buy a PC, that shit has more RAM, and there aren't many people who are willing to break into stranger's houses and take the time to dissassemble everything and neatly pack it up.
Fuck, just because you people told me this, I'm going to go up to the next guy I see who seems like he saves valuable information, grab his shit, and slam it on the fucking ground!

Dude, this is what i would do. Have a friend drive you to somewhere far from your house where you may find someone with a laptop. Have him park far enough away so noone sees the car. When you see something good, snatch that shit and run like hell. Make sur no one sees you get in the car. Then drive back to your house and enjoy your laptop.
Obviously you should be wearing a hood/glasses so cameras or witnesses cant describe you.

My buddies little brother robbed a house for some bud a week ago. The dude that set up the kick door said "Only take the weed." Long story short dude took laptop, PS3, and 3 pnds. 3 days later police come to door and catch the kid on the computer with his friends smoking stolen pot, and playing stolin PS3. The computer had low jack. They showed him the little hand held monitor that recieves the low-jack signal , and asked if they could have a look around. BUSTED!!!

the best time to do it would be when you were going out of state. it's simply not worth it to take a chance of getting caught and do you think that the person is going to go out of state to get their laptop? probably not.
make sure that the person you steal it from doesnt know you've seen the laptop. maybe you can go to a friends campus and stalk there and maybe go in some dorms if you have a friend to help.
You sound dumb, so I won't take your advice. If I don't have money for a laptop, what makes you think I could afford traveling out of state?

If you're gonna rob, go big. Rob a bank or jewelery store.
In Melbourne about 5 months ago some dude, in the middle of the day smashed a window in the jewelry store and stole a ring worth 1 million AUD.
Or in UK, two guys robbed a jewelery store worth 80 million USD worth.
NONE have been caught... the million dollar ring guy that's for sure... not entirely sure about the second robbery but they are still on the run.

Yet another thread turned incredibly racist. I love it.
Anyhow, I'd rather have OP rob a jewelery store (or even a computer store for a laptop) than steal someone's personal laptop. If you make 65k a year and can't spare $200 for a laptop, you're probably spending too much on drugs. Either that or you have another bad habit, like a wife and kids.
