Jehovah's Witnesses
    #10557648 - 06/23/09 05:55 AM (3 years, 11 months ago)

I was just woken up to some propaganda from some Jehovah's Witnesses and being that I'm an open minded drugged out scum I was open to their ideas as they seemed like nice enough people.

They left me with a book entitled "What does the bible really teach?" so as I'm a student who really has nothing better to be doing (its summer and there's no work anywhere and my body needs at least a sober week) I decided that I'm actually going to read through it and attempt to diffuse some of the fallacies presented with logic and rational. I don't want to be rude to these people, I just want to show them why someone like me can't possibly believe this stuff.

From what I gathered these people are relatively simple, so I need to present it in terms they can at least relate to (as I don't expect them at all to accept my opinions).

So any suggestions as to where to start regarding this?

Do not even try with these religious people, they don't understand logic. Trust me.

I know they don't, I don't expect to change their opinions regarding anything in the slightest, but I do want to show them why I can't possibly believe in this fallacy.

You should have seen their faces when I mentioned the Qur'an .

This.

But I wouldn't really mind when they stopped by. I'd usually just take their watchtower or whatever and read it for the lulz when I had spare time.

What I really want is some good contradicting passages in the bible, so I can quote them to them. If I'm going to argue this it has to be in their terms, because clearly they are beyond reason .

, me too! Religious people are extremely emotionally attatched to their beliefs, engaging in debate with them is like arguing with ignorant, inner-city poor children.

Well my mother is a witch (some sort of wiccan / druid / earth based religion mashup), so I'm contemplating borrowing her Witches bible and demonstrating the similarities, at least in message, between the two .

I could have easily been rude to these people, or just shut the door on them, but fuck man I've got nothing better to do :yesnod:.

When I was incarcerated I became a sufi, and they placed me in a cell with a Wiccan and one day when I was making salat he walked in front of me and didnt apologize after we spoke about this, So when he went to chow I took his "protection necklace" and flushed it... I was fine with wiccans until he started telling me about the whole positive and negative witch thing in which im totally against.. There is a sura about this if any of you happen to be Akii

What is salat? Why is it bad that we walked in front of you while making salat?

If you happen to be wiccan I apologize for offending you, As you were not the one who walked in front of me; perhaps I should word things better

Anywho Salat is prayer and it is a death sentence in Middle eastern coutries to walk in front of someone making it. The reason for that is that it causes a break of salat from yourself and your submission to Allah(swt)

Judging a whole religion based on an interaction with one person is incredibly naive.

So what do Jehovah's Witnesses actually believe? I know they're some kind of sect of Christianity, or at least the follow the bible, but what differentiates them?

Hell no I'm not Wiccan! Wouldn't flushing his necklace be just as bad?

They have their own Bible, and part of their beliefs entails not celebrating birthdays, holidays, etc., and believing that only a few thousand people will make it to heaven, all of which are Jehovah's Witnesses. You don't need to make a judgment of religion based on interactions with religious people (although this may reinforce your judgments), all you need to do is study religions.

Well most muslims follow this

The 11 Knots
During the stay of the Prophet(sallallahu alayhi wasallam) in Madinah a Jew cast a magic spell over him.The main reason for this was hasad(envy).

The incident narrated in Musnadi Ahmad is that a Jew performed magic over the Prophet(sallallahu alayhi wasallam) through the effect of which he became ill. Jibraeel(Alaiyhis salaam) came and informed the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam that a Jew has performed magic over him on a certain object which is in such and such well. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam sent men to the said well. They brought the object (upon which) magic was spelled from the well with knots in it. The Prophet(sallallahu alayhi wasallam) recited the Surahs (Falaq and Naas) and opened the knots and immediately he recovered fully and was up on his feet. (Although the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam knew from Jibraeel(A.S.) the name of the Jew, but because the habit of personal vengeance never existed in his life) he never said a word to him nor were any signs of complaint (or displeasure) seen on his auspicious face while he (the Jew) was present. (The Jew being a hypocrite was regular in attending the gatherings of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam).

In the narration of Bukhari from Aaishah(radhiyallahu anha) it is stated; Magic was worked on Allah's Messenger(sallallahu alayhi wasallam). (The effect was such that) he used to think that he had sexual relations with his wives while he actually had not. (One of the narrators,Sufyaan said: That is the hardest kind of magic as it has such an effect.)

The jew was a witch...  there is 2 suras in the Quran which healed him
