Something that is mildly confusing to me is that it was growing alone and in all the pics I see from you guys they grow in clusters..?
They can grow singularly or in groups.

Yes I find many of the larger more robust specimens growing alone, the smaller/mid sized ones tend to have fatter stems and grow in tighter clumps, at least in pastures.
Ive never found a subb in a well fertilized lawn... ...only horse crap.

I've found them in a lawn that has never been fertilized. At least not for the last 80 years or so.

So I'm 99.999% sure that these are subbs however as you can see they have been in the sun for several days and are super dry. Would they have lost any potency from being in the sun for so long?

Thanks

Already posted these in a thread I made a while ago, but hell why not post em here?
Question for subb trippers: anyone else find that the non-lawn subbs (the thick stemmed ones growing directly from manure) are at times about as potent as cubes? I ate about 5 of these the other week and was at about lvl 4-5.

Yes, the sun could most definitely make then lose potency. What makes you so sure they're subbs? They're gnarly lookin'.

Do you happen to know if this species has been found recently in Florida?

NO!
Mushroom that are that old or rotten can make you sick, food poisoning.
But I would check that area again for some after it rains.
