ID PLZ!
    #10310031 - 05/08/09 10:15 PM (4 years, 13 days ago)

Habitat:
I found these on a farm in the field

Gills:
dark brown, not very spaced but i don't know how to describe them

Stem:
3 to 5 inches, pretty tall for the size of the heads, very small maybe 1 to 2 cm in diameter, very light brown, pretty smooth, cant tell if they are hollow or solid, very thin

Cap:
half an inch to 1 and a half, pretty small cap for how tall the stem is, light brown and fades into dark brown around the edge.... but might be because there a little old?, very smooth, like a half of a sphere but a bit more like a cone but not much.

Spore print color:
Do not have a spore print YET. but i will try to get one if i absolutely need one if i could be told how to.

Bruising:
if any it would be black but cant tell if its bruising or just getting dried out.

Other information:
doesn't smell like much of anything, also these aren't mine cough...cough...Also how many grams do you think is there ounce they are all dried out, i know, i know its very hard to tell from just photos but plz if you had to guess just tell me.

thx

Welcome to the Shroomery.  I think those are Panaeolina foenisecii, a common lawn mushroom.

Cut the cap from the stem just under the cap and place on a piece of paper or aluminium foil.  Cover with a glass.

The spore print should be purple-brown in about 4-12 hours.

hi, i don't know if this is a good source or not but it says on here that the Panaeolus foenisecii is active but has very small amounts of psilocybin.

quote:it's in second paragraph

"Chemical analysis has revealed this hallucinogen in some collections from some parts of North America"

yes, and so are some other mushrooms.. like Psilocybe coprophilla.  there is no use in trying to trip off them, because you wont.  and there is no use in eating them for food, unless you're starving.

yeah.  it is good conversation.  but mushrooms and plants are tricky, because they do contain certain amounts of certain compounds.  For instance a mushroom might contain a desirable substance, but also contain too much of an undesirable substance, thus becoming useless or harmfull unless you are a genius and would like to attempt to extract particulars.

edit:

If you are a genius, certainly you can find or grow what you want, rather than extracting substances from pan. foens.  .... or not.
