 How to Buy Mushroom Spawn at a 'Discounted' Price.

This little tip for all those ShrooMembers who actually grow/cultivate  's and not just post silly shit in "The Pub" forums. (I wonder what the ratio of growers-to-non-growers is, 10:1?)
So I recently just came from my local natural foods hippy store, and I just bought LOTS of rye berry grain and wheat berry grain spawn for my next mushroom grow at a "discounted" price. And I wanted to share with all you real ShrooMembers how I did it.
Step #1. Find a Local Health Food Store.
It doesn't necessarily have to be a "health food" store, just any store which has those vertical clear tubes filled with various organic goods like whole grains, popcorn, peanuts, etc. I just mentioned Health Food store, because they always have organic foods, the best type for mushroom cultivation.
Step #2. Find the Bulk Section of the store.
Like described above, the "Bulk Section" looks like a bunch of clear tubs and vertical tubes filled with various organic foods.
Step #3. Start looking for your favorite grain spawn.
I prefer to use rye berries since most experienced growers here say that's the best type of spawn to use. I've also used wheat berries, and they worked great but each berry was big in comparison to rye berries, which according to geometry, smaller items in a container have more surface area than large items in the same container (like BB's instead of marbles inside a jar). I would avoid popcorn seeds as spawn, as many growers have said that this is the worst type to use because of high probability of mold/bacteria contamination's surviving the pressuring cooking process.
Step #4. Bag up how much you need, in the pounds using the scale at the store. Pretty standard stuff, just start putting your chosen grains into a baggie and weigh it until you think you have enough. Pretty simply.
[Now the good part]
Step #5 Find a grain or organic food that is similar in appearance but cheaper in price per pound to the grain you picked and record the "bin number".
This part is important. This may be a regional thing, or maybe a nation-wide thing, but all the natural foods stores use "bin numbers" to identify the different goods you are buying when you purchase them at check-out. It has information on what the item is, and more importantly, how much it is per pound. You are going to exploit this ID numbering system for your own benefit. Also, most stores provide twist-ties to write the the bin number on. Write the "new" bin number on the twist tie. At my health food store, the cheapest goods is the wheat berries or popcorn, wheat berries are $ 0.89 a pound while popcorn is $1.09 where I live. Rye is slightly more expensive at $1.19 per pound, but the difference will add after you buy A LOT of the grain. So, use either wheat berries (my preference) or popcorn kernels (if you want to) bin number for the grain (get rye berries) you are buying.
Also, make sure when you are recording the "new" bin number you are not holding the bag of goodz in the other hand. This might look suspicious and if any store employees are watching, they might bust you down!
Step #6. Buy other bulk foods with the *correct* bin number.
Its a good idea but not "required" to buy other bulk-foods with the correct bin numbers written on it. Buy something you like to eat, like rice or cereals or chocolate chips, or whatever. I buy whole almonds, because I like to grind them up and put on ice cream (try it, its awesome for texture  ). But, I usually write a different bin number so I can get a discount on that too, since they are $8.99 a pound! (damn!) I wrote the bin number as popcorn kernels and bought for only $0.89 a pound! What a savings. Just make sure at least *one* bag has the correct bin number, or alternative you could write all the right bin numbers but tie them on the wrong bags, with the most expensive item having the small quantity inside the bag.
Step #7. Act normal because its check-out time.
This is the moment of truth. Will it work? Will I get this mushroom grain spawn at a "discounted" price? We'll see. So far, I've done this twice with 2 different women working the register (the girl I just bought from today was a total fox! I wish she could work my register!), and both didn't even double-check. They just typed in the number and continued on. I did a little nervous when she said "Can I see your I.D.?", but it was because I was buying beer as well and I'm barely 21.
Anyway, her's some tips to make this critical part go smoothly.
Tip 1. Distract the cashier. Ask him or her some random questions about them, the store, or whatever you want as she's punching in the bin numbers into the register. If your a guy and shes a girl, flirt with her a little bit. That should distract her. And if your a girl and the cashiers a girl, flirt with her (that'll at least distract the guys standing in line). That will really distract the female cashier if she's being hit on a girl (especially if the cashier is a lesbian ).
If you get "caught", act surprized. Here's where some acting skill comes in. If they find out that you wrote the a bin number that's different than the contents of the bag, act like you didn't even know. Say something like "Oh...I'm sorry, I must have wrote down the wrong number. I was thinking about getting some popcorn and I wrote that number down. That's my bad." The incorrect response would be "My your lookin' fine today. Would you like to go out for dinner with me sometime?". Its too late for distractions, so don't try it. Now, you must go back to the bins and write the right bin number. If this happens, this means you failed!
Step #8. Celebrate your victory! But only after you get to your car. Then celebrate all you want. You just bought hi-quality mushroom spawn at a great price! Enjoy!
Of course, the bags you use to put the bulk bin foods have no barcode/security tags on them, so you could just steal it by hiding it on your body.

Extra side note: Its not considered "stealing" because you are still paying 75% of the price ( [$1.19 - $0.89] = $0.30 then [ $0.30 / $1.19 ] x 100% = only 25.21% off.) So its all good!
