So people can smoke opium, not so entire families can be subjected to dependence on semi-synthetic chemicals.

Your making the government rich off their legal gov smack.
Did you know when oxy was first made they forged the data on how addictive it was and the government still approved it. Look it up if you want.

oxyocodone comes from opium. Since the US started its war in afghanistan, opium production has exploded. Before the war, the taliban had nearly wiped out opium growth and made it a religious decree not to grow it.

Don't demonize Oxycodone because a certain segment of the population abuses it.
Many people use it for pain, as it was intended.

Oxycodone Addiction Oxycodone is a strong opioid analgeic (pain killer) drug with a high potential to cause physical and psychological dependence. Oxycodone is a semi-synthetic opioid made from the alkaloid, thebaine. It is very similar to >>codeine<< (codeine ring a bell? *cough* heroine *cough*) in structure and actions
A recent study of hydrocodone showed that 70% of the people using hydrocodone and similair kinds of painkillers get addicted to it.

this shits primary goal is not to relieve pain its fuckin money, and a steady inflow of it. pharmaceutical company's cream their selves for shit like this. even more if they can docters to recruit new addicts...i mean patients.
what do you think they care about their shit relieving pain? its a fun additive. but its not their goal. dont be so goddamn gullible its about M.O.N.E.Y! CASH $$$

how fucking dumb can a human get. dont like those sources? use fucking google and convince yourself it only turned up 1.940.000 hits for 'oxycodone addiction' alone.
so if i understand correctly you find it ok for a 'medicine' to be distributed if 70% get addicted to it because for 'some' people it relieves pain? and of those people, howmany do you think claim to be in 'pain' to get it.
Your comment is absolute shit sir, its absolutely based on nothing, backed up by nothing and then you claim shit on me, without contributing the discussion at all or defending some viewpoint.
oh and if you just stop reading purely because someone made an typing error or whatever.. thats just sad man.

no i stopped reading because you think you're onto some huge conspiracy or something, but you're not. i'm not disputing the fact that people get addicted to opiates. but there is a difference between recreational use and legitimate use for pain. if under medicial supervision opiates are administered for managing pain and a recreational "high" is not sought, the efficacy of opiates in this context is undeniable you are talking about people who start off medicating and then progress more into the recreational realm. there is a difference! opiates have a huge stigma surrounding them, just think back to the opium wars. many individuals and even societies have been ruined by addiction, i'm not disputing this. all i'm saying is they have a place in medicine aside from the stigma you are talking about. this is also why people who have previous addiction problems are generally not given opiates if the doctor is aware of this pre-existing condition..

And to quote from a SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL:
Quote:
Controversy about the primary use of opiates in the treatment of chronic pain continues. At present, the majority of published studies and surveys indicate that opiate treatment can be effectively used for chronic pain management in many cases with low risk of addiction. This general finding should be weighed against other considerations, including the finding that opiate treatment does not completely eliminate pain. Treating chronic pain with long-term opiates is most effectively managed by using a multidisciplinary approach. There are several time points within the opiate treatment process when mental health professionals can play a crucial role in helping patients manage both their chronic pain problems and substance use concerns. The mental health professional can assist in both initial assessments (psychological history, substance use history) and ongoing assessments of substance use. Additionally, psychological treatments can help patients develop effective coping strategies for managing their chronic pain (e.g., cognitive-behavioral interventions, relaxation techniques, biofeedback), as well as better utilize the available, although imperfect, medical interventions, including opiate medications.

oxycodone is a blight upon the world...those fuckers should all burn for it... as for addiction, there is a reason i dont start certain things (coke, heroin, e...etc) because i dont want to get addicted to it... call me an asshole, but do your homework before you put something into your body...

Seriously, I never understood how people can get addicted to non-physically addictive substances like coke, alcohol, and even sex to an extent. Hell even tobacco isn't very addictive IMO, I've smoked for 2 years straight and then quit cold turkey because I didn't want to keep wasting money.
Maybe you are all just more weak willed then I am
I've had an 8-ball of amazing coke last me the better part of a year, taking 2-3 lines every other weekend. Sure I wanted to do coke more but you know what, I have my priorities in check, I'm not an animal and can control when I fuck/do drugs/eat/piss. Don't blame drugs for your lack of willpower.
