Yep...that's pretty much how I see it. Good job reading between the lines.

I agree, if the tazer didn't stop him the first time, it wasn't a good idea the second time. Not to mention that someone in that twisted a state of mind shouldn't be subjected to such things as unwanted electric shock therapy... It wasn't like he was being violent, I'm willing to bet if the police had handled the situation any better they would have been capable of convincing him non-violently that the best place for him was the back of the ambulance. Hell just tell him there are cookies and fairies waiting for him, I know I'd be happy to hear that if I were trippin sack.

As an EMT I do believe that if you injure one of us, I don't care if you're under the influence you deserve to be repremanded. It's unfortunate it happened, but if you tangibly effect another in a negative way, especially in a physical way I believe jail is almost always required, even if for a short while. If the kid had stayed under control I wouldn't care, but don't use your drug use as a crutch for your actions.
Sorry kid, you messed up and so did the paramedics and police, but hurting someone else who's trying to help (paramedics can't taze or any of that crap you all are mentioning) is unnacceptable.
Oh, and Drizzt396, not all of us have a hero complex, some of us just like knowing we're giving back to the community.

Edit: To the original poster: can you cite your source? I can't find this through google...
has it occured to you that some people are fucking idiots and will freak the fuck out violently no matter what is going on around them after taking a high dose of psychedelics? Its the retard on shrooms' fault

^Well, it was. I love mushrooms, and i wouldn't call them evil by any stretch, but the cops got called because he was acting like an idiot in public from what the article tells us.

LOL as an "emt" I would think by choosing that job you would assume some risk, I mean I can see if your a girl and dont want to get hurt, and I agree you shouldnt be injured "on purpose" But seeing how your a medical professional I would think your training and understanding of a young person who at the moment has a sever mind alteration problem that you would man up, be resourceful with the situation and control it. But I guess people consider them selves more important than the garbage man. And I agree 100% that people shouldnt use drugs and an excuse for their actions but it sure as hell explains them in rare circumstances, I guess I just forgive people for mistakes where others are not capable of it.

I do assume there is a risk in being one, and I'm more than glad to have some risk to myself help my community but let's say this kid just went on a killing spree because he had a bad trip, would you forgive him because he was having a bad trip and that was his reaction? I'd sure hope not, otherwise you just contradicted yourself for not letting drugs be a crutch.
"but it sure as hell explains them in rare circumstances"... how is that not using it as a crutch? I fail to see your logic, I'm sorry. The kid did something wrong and ended up hurting someone else who was only there to help. Paramedics can't taze, only the 5-O. Paramedics/EMTs often show up to calls where people are in severe mental distress and talk them down with the cops just watching in case things take a turn for the worse. We don't like arrests, but if you just crippled a guy who was trying to help you because your dumbass went into public and had a bad trip, well that's your fault

The guy was probably having a pretty decent trip until the police showed up, tazed him, which to him probably looked like a demonic snake pumping painful venom into him, which made him scared shitless and wanting to get away from it anyway possible and happened to run into the paramedic.

Yes, it's hard to imagine what your shroom trip would be like after being tasered. When he said he just wanted to get away from the pain or something like that I can understand where he is coming from.

Yeah those trippers that go on murderous rampages sure are a pain, if only the newspaper had a fiction section.
I agree, his mom should feel like an idiot, and I think those officers and that paramedic want to blame their lack of situational ability on the kid and the "drugs"! I think they all know they fucked up, but the responders had a scapegoat when their whole hair-brained plan went to shit.

So did the kid know martial arts? I am just amazed the medic couldn't handle somebody tripping on shrooms (just hide behind a bush and make bird noises). I wish there was a squad car video or something..
