Being content with doing nothing- Gift or a curse?
    #10019535 - 03/22/09 02:33 PM (4 years, 2 months ago)

What do you think?  I have no problem spending some days just browsing the internet most of the day and going outside for a few minutes.  :crazy2:  I couldn't do this 24/7 every single day, but I think I am pretty content with doing minimal activities.  Should I be grateful or is it a waste of time?

You're a daily or almost smoker aren't you?

I am the same way. I smoke some indica and get fuckin' blown.

But while I'm ok with doing nothing right now, as far as I am compared to my friends I am more ambitious in life. I know the general direction my life is heading and I set goals for myself so I am not stuck in this pothead mindloop of getting stoned every day, even though I do.

It pisses me off when people use weed as an excuse to not get shit done. Get high after doing something if you can't handle it. And we all know there are people who cannot or should not be smoking.

agree 100%. i have ambitions to- mostly in art- but that is much more then most of the stoners I know.

Getting high after all the work is done is the way to go, that way you can enjoy it to the max.

There are def some bad stoners out there, not gonna lie. but sounds like we are both on a good path, for stoners at least  :mushroom2:  I usually smoke daily, but try to take breaks every month or so

I'm happy with simply living but i have shit i want to do in life. I'll keep smoking weed while doing it all too. Just have to go with the flow of things and jump on opportunities and make yourself available.

Trust me, its a gift.

I wish I could sit around all day doing nothing.  I've been an over achiever my entire life which doesn't leave much time for leisure and fun.

i do sit around getting ripped a lot
but its all about the mini accomplishments.. im going to smoke a joint and paint for a while

flossing my teeth is one that has never stuck though

im perfectly content being baked a lot of the time
and when i get bored of it, i get on with other things till i feel like smokin again

when i actively try to cut down on my smoking i almost become too goal oriented, if thats possible
like i want to accomplish so much, to the point where ill never get half of it done
so i figure its best to conserve energy
and chill out

i have my productive periods and my down time

I thought I was the only one! I have been like that for years and I am not a daily smoker. I'm just perfectly happy surfing the web, playing video games, watching movies and occasionally going out every once in a while. To me there really isn't anything that I want worth working for. All I really want is to be left alone. Food, a place to sleep and a computer with the internet and I'm happy. The only motivation I have to work comes from the desire to not be seen as a failure by my family/friends. The truth is I would probably be more happy living in someones basement surfing the web and playing video games for the rest of my life. You may think it sad...but I don't. I do not live at home and I do work but the times in my life that I have lived at home were the most enjoyable stress free times of my life. I lived with my grandmother for about a year after college and gave her around 250$ a month to help out with bills. "250x12=3000$" So for a year I had no job and no worries and it only cost me about 5k that I had saved. Happiest year of my life.

I'm exactly the same.

I could spend all day working as a slave to the wage or just hustle and get by and do what I want all day.  I know which I prefer.  Fuck other peoples opinions on it.

Ask yourself this:

WHAT DO I REALLY NEED IN LIFE?

Seriously, and not superficially either. Really REALLY think about that one. You'll find out its not much. You need your basic survival essentials covered, some friends, some love, and pleasant passtimes.

That is IT.

Most stuff people do equate to a kitten chasing its own tail. The reward in them is always just out of reach, or it simply isnt what you really hope to find.

What do you REALLY hope to find?

In Asia there are monks who sit in front of a mandala all day, every day, meditating. They have rich meaningful lives, maybe not by your standards but certainly by theirs. And remember: YOU ARE THE BENCHMARK. Don't let others decide what you should or shouldn't. Certainly dont let the media do it for you, it will cost you millions and you will have to sacrifice your life chasing after those millions.

So what do you really want, and what do you really need?

WTF. I'm stoned almost all day, every day. I usually don't feel lazy unless I let myself burn out.

I have a life though. I find that sitting around stoned is kind of boring. I go to college, have a part time job and a girlfriend.

I usually go to classes stoned, get high between classes, get high before work, during my smoke break at work, after work, before I see my girlfriend... then get high with my girlfriend.

I have a pretty productive life I think. Weed just makes it a little more interesting.

The only things that make me want to do nothing is the comedown from ecstasy and when I'm K-Holed.

I want a girlfriend............. and I want to make music!

I hate the media and have always hated the media... people that follow media such as commercial radio or hollywood action sequels make me :hulk:, I have been like this since a very young age........ I feel I am still ahead of the curve, a lot of the anti corporate people I know, just follow jam bands- but I have always been a self thinker and I am proud of myself for that :psychsplit:

The bitch about life is that I gotta get a job and make money! But you gotta do what you gotta do right?

But you only get one life, why waste it sitting in your mom's basement getting high?

The point of life is to LIVE it and do something with it.

I go in and out of this type of mindset. I'm more content with my life when I'm out of it, though.

Getting high in the woods is much better.  Non corporated/ un-adulterated nature......... the perfect place to get high IMO, and it is a real experience unlike sitting in your moms basement
