Trip for 'magic mushrooms' results in pair of arrests

It was an arresting case of mistaken identity.
The evening had gone well for four undercover state and local police officers. A drug dealer had sold his wares to an informant and the evidence would be used to make an arrest.
At about 10:30 p.m. on March 10, an undercover New Kensington detective and three state troopers were talking inside a Chevrolet. They were taking a break in a public parking lot when opportunity almost literally knocked.
A man who police identified as Jon R. Sinka, 26, of 151 Market St., Leechburg, pulled along side them on a motorcycle.
"He leaned down and looked inside right at us and made a face. Then he looked again before driving away," said New Kensington Police Lt. Ron Zellers.
"After a while, a Chevy Impala drives up and the driver parks about 30 feet away from us.
"Then no more than a minute later, the guy on the motorcycle comes zooming up and gets inside the car. And we saw them exchanging plastic bags.
"We knew what it was," Zellers said.
After a few minutes the officers flashed four police badges in the windows of the Impala. Police said the car was driven by Dale T. Cooper, 25, of 161 Superior Road, West Deer.
"One window was down a bit and I got worried," Zellers said. "The driver wound it up and looked like he was going to start the car. I thought he'd try to drive away, but he didn't."
The plastic bags contained "shrooms" — hallucinogenic mushrooms.
That's a street name for such mushrooms containing the chemical psilocybin, which causes hallucinations, Zellers said. Shrooms are illegal to have or use.
Police charged Cooper and Sinka with having about 3.75 ounces of illegal mushrooms with intent to sell the drug.
Police said they also found a little more than 5 ounces of marijuana, a scale and other paraphernalia.
Police said Cooper was driving the gray four-door Impala.
Sinka was on the Honda 600cc motorcycle.
The dried, light brown mushrooms with white residue under the caps are worth about $200 an ounce, Zellers said.
Zellers said the drugs are popular on some college campuses and out West, not in this area.
"These are the first I've seen on the streets here in more than 20 years," he said.
A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Thursday.

how could zellers say mushrooms go for about $200 an once and say he hasnt seem shrooms in 20 years? but i think 200 sounds like a good price.

wrong place wrong time, that's brutal... fuck the war on drugs...
running into the police is worse than running into a crack head trying to mug you,
atleast if you get mugged they take less money and usually you can go home that night
