Use gymnast's chalk, or climbing chalk on your hands.  It helps a lot.  ....and does being stoned make it any easier?  From what I can remember of getting stoned (20 years ago) it just made me lazy.

I love working out high.  I haven't tried it with the kbells yet, but I used to do it all the time when I used a weight bench.  I dunno, i feel like I can lift more/longer when I'm stoned becuase I can just "turn off" the link between my brain and my body.  It lets me just chill out and think about stuff while my body autonomously lifts whatever weight I throw at it (to an extent, of course)

It must be a young man's thing. I used to like it too, but now :nono:

yeah, probably - heh.

I think I'm going to GTG my TGUs with the 24kg over the next few weeks.  Ill just put my kbell somwhere that I go a few times a day (don't want to overdo it) so I can get used to the pressure of the 24kg on my forearm.  It was moderately painful last night pullin out thsoe 6 reps.  I've gotten used to the 16kg, but (like you said) this 24kg brought back the pain.

Don't desensitize yourself to pain....that can be really bad. Also being stoned could allow you to accept poor form. I wouldn't encourage it. I have gone running while tripping before, but thats about it for exercising intoxicated with me.

Its not about a desensitizing to the pain, I just find it helps with endurance and drive in general when doing cardio.  Although it probably does help deal with the exercise pain.  I think it may have an affect on the sympathetic nervous system in a way which helps deal with pain/fatigue from exercise.  They sympathetic system is what releases adrenaline and stimulates your "fight or flight" response in stressful situations.  This is why you don't feel pain in a fight until after, or feel tired until you are done hard exercise--your body is releasing adrenaline, and noradrenaline to keep you in "high gear".  I think that the pot may intensify this response, but these are personal observations so they hold no real validity.

That being said, I never felt much pain during my workout, if I did I would stop because something would be wrong (except for a little bit of lactic acid burn of course)

Weed is also a bronchial dilator, so it helps open your airways when exercising, but your lungs should not be a limiting factor in aerobic exercise so I don't know how much this affects anything.

All in all, I don't think it makes too much difference in pain and endurance, I think the real factor is focus.  Where I really find weed helps is doing hot Yoga, I can focus on my breathing and poses better I find, and am more resistance to the high temperature room.  I haven't gone enough yet to make any hard conclusions for myself, but when I have gone high I have felt as though I had a better practice, I should try a few times sober/high to see if it really makes too much difference.

"A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe'; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.

This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us.

Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.

Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security."

I've decided I'm going to drop back down to the 16kg for my Halos, but stay at the 24kg for my squats.  I'm just not able to handle the 24kg like I'd prefer, so I'm going to hold off on the 24kg Halos until I restart the PM with the 24kg.

I'm going for 500 swings in a little bit.  I think I can do it!

Quaaaaaaaaaaaail.  Switching back to the 16kg for Halos made it feel like a child's toy.  They were so easy relative to the 24kg it was pathetic.  Anyways, here's today's workout:

3/16/09

Warmup:
-Halos (16kg) 3x20
-Squats (24kg) 3x12

Swings:
-501 in 25min with the 16kg

Cooldown:
-Abs
-Stretchesss

I'm lookin forward to startin the ROP once I can nail 20 reps/side of TGUs (hopefully tomorrow!!!!!).  If I'm able to do that tomm, I'm going to do one more PM cycle to finish out the week, then start the ROP next.

Tues:  20 TGUs/side
Wed: rest
Thurs: 500 swings in 25 again.
Fri: 20 TGUs/side
Sat: rest
Sun: extra rest
Mon: START THE ROP

Oh, by the way, it took me 41 days to go from 90 swings (day 1 PM) to 500 (day 41 PM)

Excellent progress. I would say next week you will be ready to do it. You will find yourself switching to the 24kg for ROP rather quickly I suspect.

Oh yeah?  We'll see how it goes.  I think I'm scheduling a session with my local RKC on Sat the 28th.  Should be a good time

You were right a few pages back when you said "soon you won't even be able to get exhausted".  Today during those swings, I could've easily gone another 200 reps if my hands weren't giving out.  Its like I can take anything these days.  I can't see what happens next

The 106-pound 'beast' is kind of the basic huge kettlebell, but they do get bigger

I know there is at least a 175-pounder:

Yeah, I watched a youtube video with a 60kg the other day.

Here's my workout update for today

3/17/09

Warmup:
-Halos (16kg) 3x20
-Squats (24kg) 3x12

TGUs:
-20 reps per side with the 16kg
:omgawesome:

Cooldown:
-Stretchesssss

YAYAYAYAYAYAY I hit the mark with my TGUs.  I won't lie, my form on the last 2 (on each side) weren't perfect, but I was DETERMINED to hit my goal.  I am VERY MUCH looking forward to starting the ROP next monday.  I'll be re-reading ETK this weekend to make sure I got it all down.

It officially took me 6 weeks (exactly) of the PM to hit the 500 swing/20 TGU mark.  Seems about right

Now I'm off on a 3hr drive back to my college for their spring job fair tomorrow.  Hopefully I can have as much success in that endeavor as I have had in this one.

i love especially rewarding myself with a few bongs after them more tho

i recently checked out the kettlebells at a local gym shop

they only had the 24 kg one there but i did a few of the shoulder lifts and those squat lunges where you swing it up to your chest

pretty cool!

Yeah, kettlebells kick ass, I keep trying to convince my parents to get into 'em (with no success).

The job fair today went very well.  I was EXTREMELY prepared, knew who I was going to be talking to, knew what jobs they were hiring for, had a resume for each, including a cover letter outlining why I would be the perfect candidate for that position, and since it was a job fair - i put a colored tab on each CL/Res so people would identify THAT resume with ME.  Essentially it guarentees that later in their day when they see that tab, they'll remember the kid that gave 'em that resume, and why he was so confident & qualified.

I landed two job interviews (Wells Fargo & GEICO) for the upcoming weeks.  I really REALLY want the GEICO job (analyst position), and really DON'T want the Wells Fargo job (probably selling investment products via cold-calling) but it's a job and i'm a broke recent-college-grad, so I'll bite the bullet and do what I HATE if it gives me experience & income

All-in-all a good day.  I'm going to be extremely well prepared for the GEICO interview, so hopefully I'll be able to land that spot.

Well I certainly enjoyed my rest day yesterday, but today was back to Kbell'n.  I decided to try a manmaker session with the 24kg today, and it was BRUTAL.  I was determined to maintain perect form, so as soon as my grip started to fail and my legs were screaming - I stopped.

3/19/09

Warmup:
-Halos (16kg) 3x20
-Squats (24kg) 3x12

Swings:
-120 swings in 6min with 24kg

Cooldown:
-Stretches

I'm exhausted, and its NCAA day!  I'm going to be on a compressed time schedule tomorrow, so I'll probably do my TGUs with the 24kg so the workout takes less time.
