i was on a hunt for a safty razor like the one you show, and i eventually found a $9 sale for an electric that does a snazzy job. Sure, it has no battery, but i'm sure it does just as well as the $150 remington (it's a remington)

I saw razors going for a $1.50 for a pack of 6, so I grabbed 6 packs of them
Still cheaper than a pack of heads only for name brand stuff

I think it derpends on your skin too. I've got sensitive skin so I couldn't see myself using a straight razor. I tend to get 2-3 uses out of a cartridge, but with my current shitty job, I don't care if I'm rocking a 5 days shadow or even a 2 week scruff.

I just switched to a $60 electric razor, my skin is feeling a lot better, I can shave more often, my face looks better, it's a better long term investment, and I don't have to use shaving cream. Electrics FTW!

I believe thickness of whiskers and of fur cover has to do a lot with what works for people.
On several occasions with a 5 day beard I had an electric razor snag on my whiskers and literally hang from my face.
Multiblade cartridge razors never did a really good job and gave me skin irritation with two passes or more.
If you can get the skill down, safety razors give a minimum of skin irritation, are easier to clean and maintain and a lot less expensive than brand cartridges. Its also a lot safer and easier to use than a straight razor.

my Gillette razor lasts me about 40 shaves per blade cartridge, I never use shaving cream, half the time I dry shave and I've only cut myself shaving once including the times I've used a straight razor and safety razor

Any razor with more than one blade (like the gillette 5 blade shit) tugs on my hairs way too much and is painful. It is like one blade is cutting hair, while another hair snags on the remaining blades and tugs at my face. I can't even imagine dry shaving with them! As far as manual razors go, i can only use single bladed ones, and those are hard to find nowadays: 3 is the norm. I have really thick hair, strong nails, and stretchy skin, so maybe that has something to do with it.
I use an electric razor, but now I may have to pick up a traditional DE razor...

I haven't used a razor in years. I don't really do clean-shaven. I trim with an electric trimmer but never clean shave. It's strange, I hate the feeling of having a shaven face

After wearing a full beard for 2 years, it took me a long while just to get use to seeing my face in the mirror without it. And I missed the soft feeling of it against my chest while I slept. Took me forever to get out of the habit of brushing my beard in the mornings.
I have really thick facial hair and I could only get one clean shave with a cartridge razor before I would have to switch it with a new one. That's the reason I use a straight razor, never have to spend money on razors again. If it gets dull, a few swipes on the strop and it's good as new.

I've shaved using my machete one time (if it's good enough for Paul Hogan, it's good enough for me)
Thing is, a great big chopper isin't as agile as a nimble little razor blade, but it worked. Didn't nick myself, but then the police objected to me having an "offensive weapon".
I didn't feel like arguing that I saw police as an offensive weapon designed to keep UK subjects subjugated (there's no winning in an arguement with them, after all) so I let them have it. It's not as if they couldn't afford their own, it only cost me a tenner.

I use an electric razor. I shave on the go.
Only like 100 bucks down payment and then maybe 30 bucks a year for replacement blades.
I knew I could never use a cartridge razor again after people started asking concernedly "What happened to your face?". Razor cuts.

Thank you wiccan seeker for the post! I enjoy the luxury of shaving my legs and pits, as well as making fun shapes or non shapes in proximity to the Mighty Phallus region.
Advice?
I'm stickin' with me 4 blades for now...

some of that german gene got passed down from my father, probably the reason I even get facial hair, the hair is really thin and soft though so I'm lucky in that regard, the unfortunate part is that it grows in all white trashy
