Nice, thanks for the tips hue.  I'm still working my way up to 30" swings, 30" rest...(at 20/40 now) - but once I get to 30:30 i'll start taking the 12min out farther until i've hit 500.

As far as the TGUs go, hopefully should be at 20min in a few weeks (I usually go 30 seconds longer every day).

Of course take your time. Always make sure that your form is perfect. When form falters you quit. It is also good to remember that going farther each time...even incrementally is what causes adaptation. I just finished a session 638 28kg swings. That was my workout for today.

mmmmm MMM.  638, that's a very nice number Hue - congratulations are in order.

I'm about to throw on a bandaid, tape up the rest of the finger, and have myself a swing day.  I'll edit this post in a few hours with the worout details.

Congratulate me when I reach my goal...1000 swings in 50 minutes with a 32kg. How I went from being an acid freak to a kettlebell freak I will never know...

Heh - that just begs me to ask:  What turned you on to kettlebells?  Was it here at the shroomery? or the DD forums?  I'm intrigued.

Anyways, i just finished my workout.

Warmup:
-3 sets of 20 halos (20 in each direction, that is)
-3 sets of 20 squats (holding the 16kg, of course)
-Lots of pumps to stretch the hip flexors.

Swings:
-Did 25"/35" with the 16kg for 12min, and got 167 swings in.

Cool Down:
-Kettlebell Curls 3x3 each arm (16kg)
-Nice long stretch

Then, a tallll glass of chocolate milk

I had to throw a 1min rest break after the 8th minute of swings so I could stretch out a KILLER cramp I had in my right side, but I'm confident that I would've definitely made it all the way through without stopping had that not cramped up.

I, again, added lots of tension to my warmups & swings (per NW) and just LOVE the way it makes me feel.

Time to go eat a chicen pot-pie :omgawesome:

I weighed 360 pounds, was sedentary, and very out of shape. It was starting to impact my health in a serious way. I lost 150 lbs and decided to adopt kettlebells as my fitness medium. I did a lot of research and found that it was the simplest and most complete system that I could find. I have been using kettlebells for just about a year and I don't know anyone near as totally fit as my wife and I are. If you do the work the results are astounding. I rarely get sick, I can exert myself for long periods of time with little impact and I have super high energy as well as being stronger than I ever thought possible.

That's great!  Again, 'grats on the complete physical changearound.

I'm confident I'll someday attain the same level of success with kettlebells that you and sunflower have achieved thus far.  The 25/35 swing session tonight gave me hope - i'm only a few sessions away from 30/30 - which is a big checkpoint for me.

In another month there will be very little that will make you sore.

Wonderful, can't wait!

I just got done with my TGU day.  It was a nice workout.  Started with three cycles of Halos (20 each way), Squats (20), and Pumps.

Got through 11 minutes of TGUs without losing form.  Towards the end it was getting rough though - I was quite happy when the song ended (signifying 11min was up).

After the TGUs I decided to try an ab workout that got posted on DD today.  I only got through #8. That shit wrecked my torso.  I'm going to continue going through it as best I can until I can get all the way through.  I need stronger abs.  Link to the routine is below:
http://kbforum.dragondoor.com/kettlebells-strength-conditioning-forum/133201-very-good-ab-routine-strength-stability.html

All in all, a very good day.  Although - I went to that website you posted a page or so back, with links to those well-built relatively inexpensive kbells.  They're out of 24kg, and the guy said they won't have any for "several months".  I'm thinking of just springing the extra ~40 for a DD one, fuck it.

Here is another excellent inexpensive brand

My 28 and 32kg are this type. My 28kg is my favorite bell.

Nice.  I sent the last people (Lifeline) an email to inquire as to when they'd be getting the 24kg in.  I don't need it right now - probably not for another month, so if it's a bit delayed - it won't be a problem.

Otherwise, I'll be getting those ~$100 ones from Perform Better.

Again, thanks for all the help.  I'm going to go give you, sunflower, and whiskey +5 for all the kettlebell tips i've receieved throughout this thread.

I'm pretty tall and spend a lot of time at the computer all hunched like, would this help
me stop developing a hunchback / slouching posture?

Most likely.  I find myself sitting with good posture these days because it makes my back feel good after my workouts.

I'm not sure about the medical benefits (the legit facts about how it helps), but from an uneducated standpoint: i like it.

Try a good mobility program to release the holding of these sorts of positions. Like this one.

Edit:

So I ordered a Lifeline 24kg last night.  I figured I'd be MUCH more motivated to progress through the 16kg if my next challenge was sitting there taunting me.

Right now I won't be moving up to the 24kg until I can do: 20min of straight TGUs, and 500 swings at the 30"/30" interval.
