Well...you only need a 16kg to start. Very rapidly...like in 3 months or so you will need a 24kg. Your greatest gain will most likely be when you move up to the 24kg bell. Every time you move up you notice a large difference. So you can get as strong as you like, but to do it you will need a larger bell for each jump in strength/endurance. Here is a place that sells them cheap. They are good ones. I have 2 of this brand.

for a slightly nicer model:

Dragon Door is great, but they overprice their bells. They try to sell on mystique. It is only a hunk of iron...no magic there. You do all of the work. Some cheap ones have bad handles...too rough, but Muscledriver are nice.

Thanks hue, I might be able to get one this week

We have a Dicks by my house, and I saw here a few months back that they had some, but I'm not sure of the brands or the quality.

Better to order muscledriver then? Even considering the shipping and the wait?

I have heard that watching a delivery man drag a 48kg to the door is quite funny.

I get Hue's cast offs :P  As he grows out of his kettle bells I start using them....I use the 35 for presses.  Right now I am using his 24kg for high volume swings.  Sometimes I use the heavier ones for short swing sessions.  I passed my 25 pounder to my oldest daughter, but she is already pressing the 35 pounder.  She is 21 and strong as an ox (along with being gorgeous, wonderful, and brilliant :sun:).

I bought my kettlebell from Dick's, the GoFit brand.  The handle is pretty good, but it was ~$72.  I justified the extra cost with my IMMEDIATE need for one (I am a very impatient man when i finally decide to do something).  I had to cut off the ugly green rubber-cover it has.  Made the kettlebell look disgraceful.

Dropping your gym membership and switching to the 'bell will be the greatest decision you ever make whattheheck.

mmm tomorrow is my off-day and I'm LOOKIN FORWARD TO IT.

Sunflower - tell your daughter if she ever ends up moving to VA to hit me up.  I need a brilliant gorgeous woman that can put me in place when I get out of line (although I never really get out of line).  PM for cell #;)

I'm going to look around and see if anybody in Denver has any on hand. I too want what I want when I want it. If I really want it.

Are you able to work out again?  Could you tape up the finger and do your swings?

Sunflower, the finger just got healed enough to work out.  There is a new layer of skin over the wound (it was quite wide), and it no longer tears when the finger is bent/stretched.  Less of a scab, more like the skin-equivalent of "baby grass".

So yeah, I should be able to work out tomorrow night

Also, I know that the PM is one day swings, one day TGU... but I feel that my swings aren't progressing at the same rate as my TGU.  I've been thinking about throwing in a medium-intensity swing session (maybe 5min or so) after my TGU workout - just for a little extra work on the lungs & heart.  What are you & hue's thoughts on that?

I know the PM is designed how it is for a reason - but I've been thinin about this for a while... swings once every 3 days isn't enough :frown:

Personally I would keep increasing the number of sets until I make at least 500 swings, and then I would try to work up to doing getups for 20 min. straight.

500 swings in the 12min PM session?  Or just 500 in one exercise block - not within a specified amount of time?

See, I'm nowhere near being able to do that - probably only 25% of the way there.  Now as far as the 20min TGU goes, I'm already at 10 on that, which is 50% of the way there.

It just backs up my discouragement that my swings aren't progressing as quickly as I'd like them to.

No...start going longer than 12 minutes. You can do 500 swings in 25 minutes if you work up to it.

That would be done gradually as a goal...little by little with good technique. I do it 2 times a week. It is the door to superfit.
