!!!!!!!!!!!!!My first Shroomery post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, here goes. About a week ago a buddy of mine said he had some psychedelics and I was all about it. He knows nothing about shrooms and didnt know anything about where these came from. I have a little experience but didnt recognize these. These have been dried. Ive been hard pressed on finding these around my area so.. I was going to try and get some spores from these guys and make me some. Id like to know what kind of mushrooms they are so that when I try and grow some Ill know what conditions to provide.
Habitat: No Idea
Gills: Light brown, grayish.
Stem: Length: 1.5" diameter: 3/8" color: White hollow/solid: hollow (I think)
Cap: Diameter: .5" color: brown texture: rough conical/spherical: spherical convex/concave: concave
Spore print color: No Idea
Bruising: I wanna say bluish/green....????
Other information: Here are some pics... they are super super big... like 2500 x 2500 so you can zoom in to great detail.
***NOTE*** I am not a photographer...bear that in mind!!

Really?
I speculate that these could indeed be Psilocybe cubensis.

Hey, thanks for the quick replies guys. I picked up about 4 or 5 g's. A friend that night gave me a few grams and it felt nice. Im used to being scared of taking a few grams due to high potency but...these were ok. I looked up psilocybe cubensis and I totally agree with you all on that. You can see that one of shrooms has some discoloration on it. like blue/black/green...should I not use this one if im going to try and get spores from it or would that not affect it.
And I've ready lots of posts debating whether or not dried mushrooms can offer future offspring. Any personal experience with that?

Eat it, that is psilocin oxidation.
I think your mushrooms might be cubes too.

Break the gills into tiny pieces and sprinkle them onto an agar plate. Transfer as soon as you see some growth.
Your mushrooms are Psilocybe cubensis, in case you were wondering.

I know a guy who got totally wasted at a karaoke bar and started screaming and eating all of the change in his pockets before getting thrown out.
As far as cultivating with these, you won't get any spore print since the mushrooms are dry (and immature). Using agar in the way Alan suggested is your only viable option for using those mushrooms to cultivate from.

Before I place the gill on an agar plate is there anything I can do to "sterilize" or remove any contaminants from the gill? Anything to help reduce the chance of contaminant in the mycelium...? thanks again

You can try very dilute H2O2 but I would just try it plain first.
Each little speck you put on the agar is a chance for success. Put a whole bunch of little specks on the plate and try to spread them out as you drop them on so they aren't touching each other.

I wouldn't even try peroxide. If it is enough to kill mould spores then it will likely be strong enough to kill the mushroom spores as well. In terms of cultivation, peroxide is good for killing cobweb mould and spores, but not much else.
