Hey thanks

Lets see GTG just means Grease the groove.  For example, if you want to improve on your push ups, every time you go inside and outside a certain door in your house you could do 5 push ups.  I just try to do a few presses as I walk by my kettle bell every day because I don't want to loose what I have gained.

Vo2max protocol-  Kenneth Jay designed it.  It increases the amount of oxygen your muscles can use.  We just do 15 second intervals of snatches then 15 seconds off.  We go on like this for 80 sets.

Ahhhh so thats what the 15:15 and 36:36 stand for... very clevar.  I like that idea - although while the 15 seconds of rest seems adequate now, i'm sure i'd be cursing the inadequacies of it after only a few sets

edit:  Sunflower/Hue - is VO2 to be used only in the ROP?  Or can I utilize its methods now, in the PM?

Just finished up my TGU day.

Normal warmup & 9min of TGUs, mmmm yummy.  Did a few pushups afterwards aswell.  I had been doing chest presses on my dad's machine after my TGU workouts, but now that I live at my moms i no longer have that machine :frown:

I guess i'll have to revert back to pushups & chest dips? :frown:

get the perfect pushup man. You'll never look back.

Unless you're the guy who already has them.

Nah, I've seen 'em, and tried my buddies out - but i just fucking hate pushups.  I got some raised handles on the bottom of my bodyweight tower (pushups/dips/knee raises/pullups) that I do pushups on.... I like 'em just as much as the perfect pushup.

Pushups do suck. For the same reason as deads and squats and chins and kettleballs.....

VO2 is advanced very high intensity work and not safe for beginners. I have registered heart rates of 211 bpm while doing it. Once you have been doing the bells for 8 to 10 months it would be appropriate. Engaging in this before the shoulder stabilizing from the Program Minimum and ROP could hurt you permanently. Don't worry about snatches until Pavel tells you.

Thanks for both those posts Hue, i'll be sure to NOT do VO2 for quite some time.  Just the 16kg swings of the PM make my heart feel like it's going to explode.

Ahh, after a nice day of rest yesterday it was back to the swings for 'ol meamsie.

Decided to boost it up to 20" swinging, 40" rest today for the 12min PM timeframe.  Was able to get in 141 (11/min for first 11min, then 20 on the last minute).

Threw in some Kettlebell Curls at the end (3x3 per arm) for good measure.  I am about halfway through The Naked Warrior and I tried instilling 'tension' into my workout tonight.  We'll see how it works out as I continue down my path.

Yeah, I have a written journal going aswell, but want to keep it on here incase I lose that one (i lose things frequently).

Plus, keeping things updated on here gives me another reason to actually DO my workout, since motivation has always been an issue to me.

Were you the one who recently started using them aswell?  I think I remember seeing a thread you created in here about 'em.

No, I want to though. Been reading and learning. Gotta figure out what I want from life I suppose. I'm bored in the gym and a little frustrated, for a lot of reasons, and these appeal to me one many levels.

That's why I got into 'em.  I hate the gym, hate the motions of going from one workout to the next, to the next, to the next, and I CAN NOT STAND cardio.

Kettlebells are simple, quick, and FUCKING EFFECTIVE.  I'm still in awe every time I finish a swing workout.  It really feels like i've sprinted 4 miles.

Haha meams is fully a part of the KB flock now.  A preacher even :hehehe:

I hate commercial gyms too.  I can't believe I wasted so much time dying of broedom on the stairmaster when I could have been whipping off swings in half the time.

Oh yes, I am a full convert to the Kettlebell cause - and I preach their effectiveness at every opportunity.  I was just so COMPLETELY floored by how effective they are as a all-in-one strength & cardio workout.

Now I've just gotta get my swings up to a level I'm confident with before I progress on to the ROP.  I think I'm going to do 28 days of strictly the PM, then 28 days of the PM with snatch & C&P practice afterwards, then jump into the ROP.

I'm only on day ~21 of the PM now, so I'll hopefully be well into the 300 swings/session by then.

Thanks sunflower!

Today was an extra-motivating workout:

I applied the 'tension' techniques Pavel talked about in The Naked Warrior (as best I could, first time trying 'em) to my workout today.  And GODDAMN you can tell the difference.  Tightening my arms/legs/torso during Halos, and putting extra tension in my legs during my squats (on both the way UP and DOWN) really made a difference.  I was only able to do 2 rotations of halos/squats/pumps instead of the normal 3 as a result of this extra tension.

Also passed a milestone regarding the TGUs today.  I hit the 10minute mark!  My shoulders were WRECKED afterwards, but it feels GREAT.

I finished up the workout with some easy bench presses (4x5 @90lbs, using max tension again).

Had a nice large glass of chocolate milk, and a hot shower - and right now i feel on top of the world.

Now I'ma go downstairs and make some chicken & veggies.  Oh, and today marks the completion of my third week on the PM! (day 21).  One more week and I'll start practicing my C&P and Snatches at the end of my workouts.

You only need one right?
