Anyone reading this thread should already have that album.

A. The album is available in this very thread.
B. It's the Indie Album thread, not random individual indie song thread.

Hey Mr. Bump, if you wanna post individual songs make a "Mr. Bump's Favorite Songs" thread - this is the Indie ALBUM Thread for posting links to full albums for download.

I know, I just figured the more people that said it, the more resounding the message would be.

You should just ban him for being so completely ignorant as to the point of the thread.

Fanfarlo - Reservoir

Quote:

The other day my industrious, knowledgeable, excitable friend Cole told me about the London-based indie pop band Fanfarlo and their debut album Reservoir. He frenetically described them as "a perfect blend of Arcade Fire, Beirut, & Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!" -- which any Funeral fan will agree is a highly suspect statement in a post-2004 world.

Cut back to 2005 for a moment, when every band was "the new Arcade Fire" or "the new CYHSY." Where countless bands shamelessly crescendo'ed their 5+ minute songs with moody anthemics and a 10-member on-stage clusterfuck -- just for the hell of the stage presence. Or the latter, anyone whose voice managed to crack even more (often and annoyingly) than Alec Ounsworth and David Byrne combined over a wall of semi-progressive, youthful indie rock. You know the bands I'm talking about (they didn't make it very far).

Fanfarlo is not one of those bands. Not by a long shot.

As soon as you listen to Reservoir, you'll begin to notice the similarities. They'll buoy up and down over the course of the album's 11 songs, and surely there will be a time when you honestly wonder if Zach Condon and members of Arcade Fire made an album together (particularly on "Drowning Men"). Whereas for the bands I described above that would be their crowning achievement (although most don't get past coming off as poorly-concocted half-assed tributes), for Fanfarlo the similarities are merely a reflection of their strengths in songwriting and their penchant for creating great songs.

I know this is a long shot but someone in here works for a radio company so maybe they've gotten it, if anyone has any CDs by Dirty Mittens I would be forever grateful of an upload. They're an amazing pop group from Portland.

Icy Demons - Miami Ice
"Icy Demons is an experimental music project started by Bablicon's Griffin Rodriguez (credited as Blue Hawaii) and Man Man / Need New Body's Christopher Powell (Pow Pow)".  as you can imagine it's pretty interesting stuff.  some songs make heavier use of synth/electro sound.  others, like "summer samba" utilize a laid-back club of the tropics sort of vibe.

i think "spywatchers" would be my favorite track.

I must say, this album has completely blown me away, EDIT: not the best of 2009 but pretty good, after a few more listens the album changed for me a bit, not as EPIC as I thought. But damn well worth a listen.

Vivian Girls - Self Titled
Quote:

It's easy for music geeks to slip into moon-eyed, esoteric ranting when talking about Vivian Girls. The Brooklyn band is openly, unapologetically beholden to the output of hallowed indie labels like Sarah, Subway, and Slumberland—music that scratches up chirpy tweeness with a punk-rock Brillo pad. But Vivian Girls' self-titled debut is more than just a time capsule of indie-pop past. With wobbly harmonies, blizzard-condition guitars, and percussion better suited to a mastodon skull than a drum kit, the disc sounds more like a ghost of twee than the real thing, a phantom of whimsy and innocence lurching across a haunted playground. By the time the track "Where Do You Run To"—and its echoing impersonation of Joy Division's "A Means To An End"—shambles by, Vivian Girls morphs from a work of nosebleed pop into something icy and numbing.

uhhh.. the point of this thread is to post links to indie album downloads, not to just randomly say indie band names.

and i'm 100% certain we had at least 1 blonde redhead album in here somewhere.  lots of other great bands too.  look around and dload some shit.  then upload some and share the love.  just do a quick search to make sure what you're upping hasn't been upped already, or isn't still currently active.

i'm just now listening to it for the first time.  literally still on the first song.  but i must say, impressive start.  my first impression was that it seemed remarkably similar to some animal collective.  the song does a fantastic job of filling the space completely.

second song is heading in an interesting direction as well.  i can definitely see getting into this album.  it just works so well with that overlay of noise.
