Oh, and WOW I can't believe shipping on the 24kg was only 9.95 FedEx.  That's glorious.

Edit:  ouch  nevermind, it's still $44.

Just got done with my Swing day.... I'm wrecked.

I decided to move up to 30/30 today - even though I just bumped it to 25/35 on sunday...  I figured I needed to see if i could PHYSICALLY do it, fuck the mental strain, fuck the physical strain, I wanted to see if i could manage 30/30 without losing technique.

Well, it worked - sorta.  I had to take a 1minute rest after the 6th minute, but all-in-all, it was a successful swing session.  I got 203 done within the 12min (yay!) and I feel good about it.  Once I get used to this 30/30 time sequence I'll start extending the minutes out until I hit that 500 mark.

Threw in some KB curls after my swing session (3x3 each arm) and tried that abs workout I posted last time.  Once again, I didn't get through it - but it feels good, so I should be completing it in no time.

I've decided that tomorrow I will truly test my TGUs.  I'm not going to set a time limit (as I normally do) - but instead I'm going to do TGUs until I lose my proper technique.  Hoping for 13-15min

Ahhhhh time to wait for mom to get home from the gym so she can cook up some chicken alfredo :awesome:

My mind doesn't process cooking.  It's odd - I'm such an ENTJ that I cannot just improvise.  I need a VERY specific recipe to follow or else I'll royally fuck up WHATEVER it is I'm making.

Have you ever fucked up Rice-A-Roni?  Because I have.

Well, my balls-to-the-wall TGU session wasn't as long as expected, but it's all gravy...

Today's workout:
-Usual Warmup (Halos & Squats 3x20)
-12min TGUs
-Abs routine

After watching a few videos on youtube today and reading a post on DD, I realized I wasn't "stretching the hip flexors" in my TGU.  I incorporated that in tonights workout and it was noticably more difficult.  Oh well - just more things I gotta work on.

Wow you're doing great.  I've never done my TGUs for 12 mins, maybe I should bump it up a notch or two.

Thanks Whiskey.  Gotta remember my TGUs are still with the 16kg, so I'm not doing that great.  Still got a bit to go before I start the ROP - but I'm lookin forward to it.

I think I'm going to start practicing my C&P today.  I want to start practicing my snatches aswell, but they just seem so intimidating - I dont know if I want to start 'em just yet.

I finally got my snatch form down after a few tries.  I find that of course you need to think about the back strait and hips back, but the actual snatch has to be a natural motion.

I kept trying to over analyze my form and just couldn't get my form right, but last time at the gym I started just going for it.

It has to be a fast motion, or else I find that the kettle bell will hit my forearm.  If I use an explosion of power from the hips and then just punch my arm up the kettle bell never hurts my arm, its only if I go too slow, or screw up my form it will hit my forearm.

Maybe what I am saying is confusing, but just try to find the natural snatching motion for your body, and once you have that down you're good.

And after my first good snatching workout I felt amazing.  Swings, TGUs, snatches, clean and press, and some bar squats made an amazing workout.

Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.

Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security."

Well, I've made some progress with my Clean today.  I am nowhere near close to "nailing it", but I've got a general idea on the way things need to flow in order to do it right.

Also, my 24kg came via FedEx today - a LOT quicker than expected (2 days!).  It's just going to sit in the corner until I'm ready for it, taunting me to push myself harder so that I can progress on to it.

Although I think I'll use it for my front-squats & halos during my warmup session.  The 16kg is gettin a little light during warmups these days.

Don't be scared to swing the 24...as long as your technique is good.

I debated starting to swing it - but I'm still far from reaching my desired numbers with the 16kg.  I suppose I could just bump it up, but if I were going to do that, I'd might as well bump the TGUs too, since I have 'em down with the 16kg.

I'll give the 16kg a few more weeks then I'll move on up.

I think I'm going to master the 16kg before I go up.  I haven't been pushing my numbers like you guys are doing, I've been very conservative.  Time to amp it up.  If I could do 15 or 20 minutes of TGUs I'd be ripped.

On dragondoor there are some serious strength guys.  Either of you tried any nail bending?

Fuuuuuuuck no.  My grip isn't that hardcore yet.  I've noticed it getting better, but I'm fairly positive I could hardly bend a kitchen knife.

If I could only control my late-night eating, I would be cut.  However, I just CAN NOT help it   Oh well.

Tomorrow begins 24kg halos & squats, and hopefully ~225-250 swings w/ the 16kg

Wow, I just watched a bunch of videos on youtube of kettlebell swings (I tried to stick to legitimate instructional clips) and I feel like I've been doing mine way too exaggerated.  Like, my knees get bent more, my kettlebell goes much closer to the floor and much farther back between my legs (because I bend over low).

Most of the swing videos I've seen on youtube they keep their back fairly upright, and their forarms hit the tops of their thighs as the kettlebell goes back between the legs.  My arms usually hit at the elbow.

Usually the bell swings to be about head-high.  I really feel like i'm exaggerating the motion.

I'm going to try to mimic the videos as closely as possible in my swing session tomorrow and see how it feels.

Example:

I bought the ETK DVD because I was unsure of my form.  I was also going too low, I now keep the KB closer to my crotch.

The DVD is great btw, Pavel himself teaches each technique

I'm broke as a joke :frown:

I think once I get a general feel for the C&P and snatch, I'm going to just spring  the ~100 for a full session with a RKC instructor nearby so I can have my form critiqued for my swing/TGU/C&P/snatch.

Im gettin pumped up to do my workout this afternoon.  These 'corrected' swings are a bit easier than the ones i was doing.... hopin for ~250 :awesome:

See how great it is to have a workout you like?

I used to really have to force myself to work out, it was uphill all the time.

I don't know what makes kettlebells so fun, but they are

Agreed.  That's what originally convinced me to try 'em out - the way you didn't see them as a "obligation" and more as an "activity".

I love kettlebelling, I could almost say i'm obsessed.  It's just SO fun.
