Glad i am not the only one that finds Burpee's challenging. I do 2x15 burpees and 3x50 crunches as a warmup.
Anyways:
-300 swings 30:30 -Yoga tonight -Forgot about Halos :O
My legs are beat right now - interestingly, my forearms were not worked AT ALL during my swing session today.
Tomorrow - Yoga, light jogging and TGU's
Christmas - 500 swings using whatever protocol i can do it with.

Im considering not doing my workout till i get over this sickness. Its not horrible like some flus goin around, but i just dont wanna overly stress my body while its trying to heal.
I'm goin to my moms house to visit her and my bro for the holiday, so im gonna show them some stuff with the kb and try and get them into it, but i dont think ill do a full work out.
Im not sure though, convince me otherwise! haha

If your immune system is compromised, your head is probably preoccupied with that and your body will not be able to mend itself at full capacity.
If my first inclination was to "not work out" because i was sick, i wouldn't.
Maybe go for a long walk, or something instead.

'meh - copout
Just did my heavy day. No swings, dinner is soon. -Warmup -5x1,2,3,4,5 C&P 16kg -Cooldown/stretches
I'm officially starting the 24kg PM on 1/1/10. I've done three weeks at 5x1,2,3,4,5 and I'm ready to move on up. I think I'll be formatting the PM thusly:
-24kg two-handed swings using 30 seconds on/30 seconds off for as many minutes as I can. Then once I can't go for 30/30 any longer I'll drop it down to 15/15 and continue a little bit farther.
-On TGU days (since I can do more TGUs per side than I can do minutes of swinging -- and I want to reach my "target" reps for each at the smae time) I'll be doing 24kg TGUs until I've done as many reps/side as I did minutes of 24kg swings the day prior. Once I've reached that # of TGUs per side, I'll try and knock out one/two/three/etc... 24kg C&Ps on each side --- trying to build up strength for when the 24kg ROP comes.
Just going to try it out and see how it works -- if it ends up failing i'll switch back to the normal PM

Phreakod - here is a good link to reinforce what Meams is always saying about keeping a disciplined schedule: http://kbforum.dragondoor.com/kettlebells-strength-conditioning-forum/139973-what-motivation-functional-approach.html
PS: Don't let me talk you out of doing your workouts. I just think you need to follow what your body says, but don't let a lazy mind take advantage of you.
I need to get more disciplined myself.

That's the key. There's always reasons to skip a workout. Rarely are they justifiable

Well i didnt exaclt y do my exact workout today. More or less a variety day to show my mom and brother what kettlebells were all about. I think my bro is pretty into them and im gonna try and get him goin on them. Basically i spent my time showing him videos, having him read the etk, and then demonstrating swings and such.
tomorrow ill try and do my regular workout or something along those lines. Today i broke a sweat and got a little exercise, tomorrow i want to push it, ive found that i stop feeling ill when work out, and it doesnt come back for a few hours.. so thats good anyways.

So despite ravaged quads and hamstrings, i did the 500 swings keeping my eye on the clock, 30:30.
(30 seconds = 19/20 swings.)
25 x 20 swings = 500!
So that was supposed to be in 25 minutes, but i think it was closer to 22.
I am going to set higher goals more often and follow a strict protocol in order to realize said goal. I was surprised to see how easy that was - i bet i could have done that weeks ago.
3x20 halos too.
Time to start practicing for the ROP. (cleaning the 40lb'r is difficult and pressing with good form is very very difficult.)

Well today I did my normal workout, a TGU on each arm, although i failed on the right arm the first time. 6x15 swings, and then coaching my brother through some of the basics. I think hes really liking it.

40lb.
I am a bit intimidated by the ROP with said weight - although i am sure after a couple weeks of practice, the C+P and snatch technique will be second nature.
I was considering buying a 60lb and re-starting the PM to build strength, but i think with some time and focus i will be able to survive the ROP with the 40lb.
It might take awhile though to get upto high reps - but i am ok with that.
How did you find the transition into ROP, meams (or other posters?)

Well: I started KBs this past january w/ the 16kg - and was ready to move up to the ROP by around march or so (not sure, you can go back and find that point in this thread if you want, lol). Within a week of moving into the ROP I got epididymitis (bacterial infection of the connection between your balls and your prostate). Typically caused by an STD, or by extreme stress/pressure in the abdominal region. I was clean, so I presumed it came from the ROP.
So, since I was hesitant to attempt the ROP again w/ the 16kg, I decided to go back to the PM, this time w/ the 24kg (just like you mentioned in your post). Once I got through the 24kg PM, I went back to the 16kg ROP - which is where I'm finishing up now.
Now i'm going to go back to the 24kg PM, but will supplement 24kg loaded cleans & presses after my TGUs on my TGU day. I'm hoping that this extra C&P practice before starting the 24kg ROP will help me avoid a repeat of last time.
I forget the criteria they lay out on DD, something along the lines: you shoudl be able to press a bell ~8 times before you start the ROP w/ it? or some shit like that. I forget exactly.

Just got done w/ my easy day. Since I'm starting the 24kg PM on friday I decided I'd use my light day today to see how many snatches I could do in 5min.
I got through 2min (40 snatches) and was done. I put the clock away, and went back and did my: 5x1,2,3 C&P w/ 16kg
Then did a few more snatches and called it a day. Lookin forward to the PMPMPMPMPMPMPMP

I did the PM for 4 weeks before starting ROP. I had just finished an 8 week escalating density cycle with conventional weight though and the PM went easily for me. I started in late March of 2008 and moved through 24kg and 28 kg by July. I was supplementing the ROP with lots of heavy barbell rows and dead lifts on the variety days which helped a lot. However totally mastering the 32kg took most of a year. I see the 40kg taking an easy 18 months from now to finish ROP with. Once I press the Beast I will consider myself done with ROP. I have to note that when the 32k started taming down and I started working with the 40kg I gained weight...about 15 pounds. However, my cardio is excellent and I have more endurance than ever.

I may be taking it a little easy today, i think my mild sickness last week affected me more than i thought. Yesterday i just felt like i couldnt get enough air, i managed my first three sets of swings and just felt wrecked after. Did my tgu on each arm and almost decided to stop based on how winded and tired i was. I just felt like i wanted to push on though, after my fourth set of swings i got really dizzy and my vision blurred a bit so i sat down and stopped for the night.
I'm gonna take it fairly easy today to avoid a repeat of yesterday.
